Betty busied herself with cleaning her car as once again her kids were with her ex wife and she was home alone. While throwing out garbage from the glove compartment she came across the stranger from the supermarkets number. Embarrassed that she had taken so long to even use the numbers she decided to call her friend.
' I think it was five months or more ago........ babe don't you think it would seem like I am calling because, I don't know _uhm_ I'm bored......'
She spoke to her friend for a few minutes before she hung up and took a deep breath before calling. As soon as she answered she hung up only for her to call a second later.
' I was surprised that she even remembered me. Told me she had been waiting for my call and invited me to a charity dinner somewhere in town. Hence I need you to do my makeup.'
' Aren't you glad that I convinced you to call. Now come let's get you ready. I need more than an hour to make this face beat.'
' She's here!'
Betty said an hour later when her front doorbell chimed as she slipped on her wedge sandals. Kamo ran out to open for her and returned a minute later telling her to hurry up.
' Girl you know I'm straight but the way your date looking now. I'm seriously considering going to the other side and I will if you don't hurry up!'
Lyric stood in her living room in a black and white tuxedo and her braids braided backwards. She smiled recalling how she never dated women with dreadlocks because they were worse whores than the rest but boy was she wrong.
' You look beautiful. The dress looks better than I had imagined.'
' Thank you for it by the way.'
When she invited her to this dinner, Betty explained that she did not have a dress to wear and she had somebody bring the dress to her after she gave her her address and dress size. Betty did not think much of it till a delivery guy knocked on her door with a boutique box.
' I hope you I did not bore you tonight. I'm sorry for ambushing you like that but you really helped me out.'
' It was actually more interesting and entertaining than I thought and I am glad I could be of help.'
' Atleast my mom did not embarrass me infront of everyone for still being single at this age.'
' You know it's only because she knows how it feels to be lonely.'
' Atleast you have your kids to keep you company.'
Betty looked at her wondering how she knew. Was she stalking her?.
' Don't look at me like that. I noticed the first day I saw you that you had school supplies and children's cereal.'
' Wow you're quite observant and I still have the change from that day you know.'
' Speaking of, why did it take you so long to call me?'
They now sat in Lyric's car infront of her house getting better acquainted with each other.
' To be honest I forgot. You met me when I was going through a divorce.'
