Ashley P.O.V

Cat sat next to me. I looked at the sparkly wrapped box. And I was well prepared that whatever was inside was going to make me fall for Ratliff again.

I slowly began to open the lid when I could feel Cat's eyes glaring at me. "What?" I asked, pausing. "Nothing! Stop procrastinating!" She screamed and tore the lid off.

I told out a silver necklace chain. Hanging on it was the shape of a half broken heart engraved with 'best'. I started to cry. Cat took the some-what rusty necklace from my hands. "I dont...understand..." She questioned staring at the necklace.

"When we we younger...me and Ratliff were extremely close. He was my first kiss.." I explained. Cat gasped. "I remember!" "Yeah. Anyways, we met him at dance a few years before we met R5 at dance, so I had a chance to know him better." "You guys were like two peas in a pod!" Cat said as the memories came back to her. "Well we were young so he thought the best friend necklace thing was a cute idea. I wore the 'best' half every day and he wore 'friends'. But then we met Ross and I started to like him. I didn't like Riker at the time because he was barely around and I didnt see him much. Anyways, me and Ross were laying on the couch together and he kissed me and Ratliff walked in at the exact moment. He ripped the necklace right off me and said that 'I dont deserve his love.' But now I guess he decided to give it back." I got that empty feeling in my stomach. Do I miss Ellington? "Maybe thats why.." Cat mumbled. "What?" I asked. Cat spoke louder. "Maybe thats why Ratliff shipped you and Riker, not you and Ross, because Ross originally took you away from him."

The band was still formed after the whole situation. Ratliff started to like Rydel a while after and we promised to not speak about us ever again. No body knew, besides Cat and Rocky, because they are like actual family to me. Ross was just really oblivious. We were able to hide it from the group, surprisingly. But I feel like Rydel knew, thats why she was so sensitive about me and Ratliff.

Catherine's observation finally sunk into my head. I snatched the necklace back and began to cry.

Riker P.O.V

I ran into Ashley's room when I heard screaming. "What's wrong?" I ran to Ashley with Rocky following. I looked at a necklace in Ashley's hands. "Whats that?..." I asked slowly. Rocky's face went pale and he stood behind Cat. He knew something. I looked at Ash. "Can I just be alone right now?" She asked. "Of course." I stood up and left her room for the second time today, completely confused. Cat ran past me and out the door. Me and Rocky looked at each other then followed her. She was going next door..

She threw the door open and looked around and laid her eyes on Ratliff. He was at the table when she walked up and was about to scream when she closed her eyes and said in a calm voice "Ellington Lee Ratliff, may I talk to you outside please?" "Sure.." He answered and slid out of his chair.

Rydel must've been upstairs because she was no where in sight. Ryland and Ross were sitting at the table, all eyes on Cat and Ratliff. "What's going on?" Ross asked generously. "I dont know." I answered honestly. Cat and Ratliff stepped out back and we watched Cat scream at him. We couldn't hear anything.

It was about afternoon now, and it started to drizzle outside, but they continued to talk. She said something, he asked something, she nodded furiously, and then Ratliff ran from the from yard. I ran to the front window and watched him approach Ashl-....my front door.

I was about open the door to leave when I felt a hand grab my wrist. "Don't." I knew it was Cat's voice and I didnt even have to turn around.
