Chapter 34 - Breakaway

 I managed to regulate my breathing, unclenching and clenching my fists as I stared at the door… do I go out the front door or do I break out of the wall? There were no windows in this room so I could not tell if I was at the back, front or middle of this building but it did not matter… one way or another I was getting out of this place. I turned around and focused my gaze on the back of the room, taking It as a safe option of getting out… I raised both arms and held my palms up… almost aiming them, feeling my arms tingle with what I perceived to be power I demanded that there be a hole in the wall… I screamed in my mind for it to shatter!

  At that moment the room began to rumble and shake… but the wall made no signs of breaking, feeling my frustration my wings spread wide open and I felt my eyes widen… ‘BREAK DAMNIT!’ I screamed in my head. I calmed myself down and cleared my mind, as I did so I heard a loud crack… the wall was finally beginning to crack, I felt my lips curl into a Cheshire Cat smile that I did not want to fade. For a second I thought that was all I was going to get til I saw hundreds of tiny little cracks appear from the big one… finally I was getting somewhere, I decided to walk closer to the wall thinking it would get things done quicker.

“What the fuck!” a voice screeched behind me, I did not need to turn round to know that it was Romain “How? What are you doing!” He shouted over the rumbling “You’ll bring this place down!”

“Is that such a bad thing?” I allowed my hands to drop and I turned to face him… the rumbling stopped “What would be so bad about bringing this place down?” I tilted my head to the side

“You’ll kill everyone here!” I felt like someone had punched me in the gut… was it guilt?

“Who is this…everyone? Are they human?” he didn’t answer, instead he began to walk towards me “Stop!” I yelled, tucking my wings back… he did as he was told

“You have my eyes…” he said softly

“No, I have nothing of yours” His expression darkened “If you want to kill me… you’re in for a fight” He began to chuckle menacingly, almost mocking me but I did not retaliate

“You know what happens when a human and Angel breed yes? An angel’s DNA is there soul… part of it needs to sink in with the new baby human, making it a hybrid… once the soul is merged… it is no longer part of the angel that gave it… it becomes new… fresh… but everlasting until the soul dies” ignoring my protest earlier, he walked a tad closer to me but only to observe my expressions as if to look for a reaction to that he had just shared with me… but I made no visible sign of caring, I remained expressionless. “So my child, whatever people may tell you… your soul is your own, whenever it is reborn… it is reborn fully, the only thing that remains the same is the part that I bestowed upon you… but then… even that doesn’t remember anything… it’s almost as naïve as you… yet it is almost as old as me” he chuckled as he continued to pace “ What I’m trying to get at is… you are my only heir… it used to be that I wanted to be rid of you because I thought of you as a mistake… an impurity, that if I got rid of you then I would be back in heaven… such a fool I was…”

“Why can’t you just leave me alone!” I barked at him, feeling my fists clench

“Because you, you impertinent little child need to learn a few things”

“Well get on with it!” I snapped “I’ll bring this place down in a few minutes, since there aren’t any humans here that I would hurt… there are probably only Nephilim and demons”

“No you will not!” his voice boomed, I swear I felt it hurt my heart... scary, composing himself he crossed his arms “I decided long ago child that I would try and raise you… but things did not go to plan, the Nephilim that I had created thought that I was getting soft… so in this life… they decided to take control… THEY killed you not I”
