Kagami walked out of his bedroom when he heard voices in the living room. He hadn't left his room in a couple days since the photoshoot. Luckily it had been the weekend, so he hadn't missed too much of classes, only the Monday ones.
"Oh hi, Kagamicchi!" Kise's bright and cheery voice was almost too much for him to bear after just waking up.
"I didn't realize you were coming over." Kagami went right to the kitchen, pouring himself a cup of coffee.
"Isn't it late for coffee?" Kuroko's quiet voice reached his ears.
"What do you mean? It's still morning." Kagami took a long sip from the mug.
Kise laughed, standing up from where he and Kuroko had been hunched over a computer. "It's already 4 in the afternoon. Where have you been?"
He swallowed the last of his coffee and set the mug back down on the counter. Had he really slept all day? He couldn't recall doing anything of particular import, like all the homework he should've been doing. He clicked his tongue, angry with himself for acting like a lovesick teenager. "Asleep." Kagami offered no further explanation.
"Well good thing you're up now! You got this big box in the mail and I've been dying to see what's inside!"
"Box? But I wasn't expecting anything." Kagami walked back into the living room. There it was, a large cardboard box on the floor next to the coffee table.
"The return label lists Aomine's company!" Kise was instantly by Kagami's side.
Kagami looked at the return label and it was definitely Aomine's company. "But why..."
"Come on, open it!" Kise whined.
Kagami rolled his eyes and cut the tape, opening up the box. He pulled out the packing paper and found a small, white envelope on top of a stack of books. He opened the envelope and there was only a short note printed on a piece of part inside. "May these help you find your career prospects."
"What does that mean, Kagami-kun?"
He glanced up at Kuroko before opening the rest of the package. It was filled with linguistics research books, how to be a translator books, and even fictional books in an assortment of languages, all of them first editions. "Whoa... this... I had no idea he been listening to me so much."
"This is a good sign, Kagami-kun." Kagami glanced up to see Kuroko smiling at him. "He might still be interested."
"I don't know." Kagami looked down, picking up the note again. "I don't want to read too much into this."
"But this gift is amazing!" Kise was practically squealing. "Let's go celebrate this Friday!"
"Celebrate what?" Kagami stared at him.
Kise lightly smacked his shoulder. "Being done with the article and the photos. Landing such a high profile guy." Kise added a wink.
"I-I don't know about that..."
"Come on! We haven't been out in ages!"
"It might be fun to get out, Kagami-kun."
"Both if you?" Kagami looked between Kise and Kuroko. "Fine, let's go out Friday night."
"Yay!" Kise started talking about where they should go, but Kagami wasn't listening. He looked back at the box in front of him. He didn't get it at all.
