The music was loud, it almost felt too loud and was throbbing in Kagami's head. The wall next to him was too comfy. Why was the wall touching him back? He looked to his side to see Kise looking down at him. Kise had even gone so far as to be running his fingers through Kagami's hair. "Oi!" Kagami glared at Kise and pushed himself back, barely able to catch himself from falling off the other side of the barstool.
"Kagami-kun... what did Aomine-san say to you?"
Kuroko's voice barely reached Kagami's ears. Kagami was still too busy glaring at Kise who was red in the face and taking an unusually long drink from his glass.
"Kagami-kun!" Kuroko said again more firmly, succeeding in getting Kagami's attention this time.
"Hmm?" Kagami looked back at Kuroko, having missed the entire question.
"You told Aomine-san where we are."
"I did?"
Kuroko let out a short breath and nodded. "Yes, you did. Why?"
"Oh, he's going to join us." Kagami said like it made perfect sense.
"Aomine-san is coming here?" Kuroko stared at Kagami, eyes wide.
"Yeah, that's what I said." Kagami blinked a few times. He looked at Kise. "That is what I said, right?" Kise only nodded and scooted a bit closer to Kagami. Kagami noticed Kise moving and narrowed his eyes at him. He kept staring at Kise.
"Kagami-kun?" Kuroko's voice registered in Kagami's ears a minute after he'd said them.
"Hm?" Kagami looked back at Kuroko, but without waiting, he said, "I'm going to get some air."
Kagami pushed himself away from the table and onto his feet. The whole room spun for a moment, but he stood up straight and was able to see the way to the door well enough. He walked that way, knocking into a few people along the way, but no one seemed to really care since it was obvious how drunk he was. He vaguely heard footsteps behind him, but didn't look back.
He opened the door and stepped onto the pavement. The streets weren't as crowded as they had been when they arrived, but it was still fairly lively. He stretched his arms a bit, reaching back and his hand collided with someone's face. He looked back to see Kise standing behind him. "Oi, don't stand so close."
Kise rubbed his nose. "You're the one who hit me."
"I don't have eyes in the back of my head." He clicked his tongue and stepped further onto the sidewalk. The fresh air was helping, but he still felt pretty dizzy.
"I just wanted to make sure you're okay." Kise said with a smile as he walked up next to Kagami. He reached out to gently touch Kagami's arm. "You looked like you could use the help back there."
"I don't need help." Kagami pulled his arm away and crossed them in front of his chest. "I'm totally fine. Just like I told Aomine."
"You know, you were pretty cute back there." Kise stepped closer, touching Kagami's arm again. "I've never seen you get so cuddly before. I felt so special."
"Special?"
"With the way you were cuddling up to me, I thought maybe you liked me too." He smiled, his grip becoming more firm around Kagami's arm.
"I was leaning against a wall, what are you talking about?" Kagami still hadn't connected that Kise was who he'd actually been leaning on while talking to Aomine.
"Aw, don't be like that." Kise fake pouted. At least, it looked pretty fake to Kagami even when he was drunk. "I know you like me too."
"Ew, I don't." Kagami didn't even think to filter what he was saying. He took a step back, but Kise took a step in. "Kise, back off."
"Kagamicchi..." Kise took another step forward, closing the distance between them. He pressed his lips to Kagami's.
Kagami had just brought up his hands to push Kise off when suddenly Kise wasn't kissing him anymore.
"He said back off!" Aomine's growl came from next to Kagami.
Kise stumbled back, but caught himself. "Aomine-san!"
"Go." Aomine said through gritted teeth, his hand balled into a fist. Kise looked to Kagami for a moment before turning and rushing back inside.
Kagami couldn't stop staring at Aomine. His face a bright pink—from more than just the alcohol. He looked at that perfect profile, Aomine's olive skin glowing from the streetlights behind him. "My knight in shining armor."
Aomine turned to look at Kagami. "Are you okay?" He reached a hand out to touch Kagami's shoulder.
"I told you, I'm fine!" He insisted and took a step back, but stumbled a bit. Before he could fall, Aomine stepped forward and caught Kagami in his arms.
"I'm taking you home."
"But my friends..." Kagami vaguely looked in the direction of the bar.
"Do you really care about that blonde?" Aomine's voice was cold and serious.
"No," Kagami said bluntly. "But Kuroko..."
"My sister's in there with him. They'll be fine."
Kagami tried to look past Aomine and through the door of the bar. He vaguely saw someone with pink hair standing next to where he'd left Kuroko. "You have a sister?"
"Let's go." Aomine tried to get Kagami to move.
"Don't wanna." Kagami jutted out his lower lip, refusing to move his feet.
"Kagami." That commanding tone was back in Aomine's voice.
"Taiiiigaaaaaa," Kagami practically whined his own name. "I won't go unless you call me Taiga."
Aomine chuckled and moved his hand to gently rest on Kagami's upper back. "Then let's go. Taiga."
"Okay~" Kagami grinned, not fully aware of what he just agreed to. He leaned heavily against Aomine as they walked towards a black luxury car that had pulled up next to the sidewalk. The chauffeur opened the backseat door for them. Aomine made sure that Kagami got in first, but as soon as Aomine was sitting down too, Kagami leaned against him and closed his eyes, passing out in a few seconds.
