Friday night and Kagami was sitting on a tall stool next to a cocktail table, Kise sitting across from him. Kuroko was just walking back with the drinks. The short male smiled and said, "I just got a vodka and pineapple juice for everyone."
"Thanks." Kagami smiled and took one of the drinks.
Kise lifted his glass. "A toast! To a successful interview and a successful match!"
"It's not a match, it's just..." Weird. That was the only way Kagami could think to describe it. Yeah, he was totally into Aomine, but he hadn't reached out to Aomine or heard anything further from Aomine since the box of books had been delivered.
"I'm sure it's a match," Kuroko said, staring up at Kagami with his unblinking stare.
"To Aomine-san." Kuroko held up his glass and they all brought their glasses together for a cheers.
Kagami took a long sip and practically finished the drink in one go. He didn't drink often and the bartender had been nice enough to make the drinks strong, so the alcohol was going right to his head. But the alcohol did seem to be loosening up his nerves. It certainly loosened up his tongue. He laughed and said, "I spent half of that interview trying to confirm all those gossipy rumors about him. Is that really a success?"
"Of course it is." Kuroko nodded.
Kagami shrugged and finished the rest of his glass. "Anyone ready for another round?"
As the night got later, they took turns getting rounds of drinks. Kagami was 4 vodkas in and he was already laughing at the stupidest things to the point that he forgot why he was laughing in the first place. Kise came back to the table with more drinks. He touched Kagami's shoulder brushing his hand against Kagami's when he handed him the glass.
Kagami turned slightly, looking at Kise. "You know, maybe I should call him." His words were slurred, but Kagami didn't notice.
"Kagami-kun, I don't think that's a good idea." Kuroko's voice came from across the table.
Kagami looked at the short male, his head spinning a bit when he moved it. "And why not? I wanna know what he really wants."
He struggled to find his phone in his pocket, tilting to the side as his hand reached in. His shoulder hit Kise's, but it didn't register with him that he was actually leaning on Kise. When he managed to get his phone out, Kuroko reached from across the table. But Kagami was able to pull his phone away in time. "No, I have to do this!"
He held the phone and fumbled through the buttons on the screen for Aomine's number that he'd saved from the card Aomine gave him. He called it, he was pretty sure it was Aomine's mobile number. He really hoped so. He'd be disappointed if he'd get an answering machine in Aomine's office instead.
The phone was ringing and Kuroko was still trying to take it from him, but he somehow managed to keep his phone tightly in his hand. A sound clicked and Kagami realized that Aomine had answered is call. "Hey~ Aomine-saaaaan~"
"Kagami?" Aomine's deep voice sounded so sexy over the phone, Kagami almost lost it. "Kagami?" Aomine said again when Kagami had been daydreaming.
"Mhmm, naa Aomineee, why did you call me?" His words were very slurred, but made perfect sense in his head.
He could hear Aomine's laugh on the other side of the phone and he swore his body temperature started to rise. "You called me, Kagami."
"You started it!" Kagami insisted. "If you wanted to get my attention, send yourself next time instead a box of books."
"Did you like the books?"
Kagami practically let out a moan. "Say that again!"
"What?" Aomine's voice was sounding more confused.
"Your voice is so sexy~" Kagami said with a grin. Kuroko again reached for the phone, but Kagami swatted his hand away. He vaguely felt something against his hair, but he didn't move.
"Kagami. How much have you been drinking?"
"What? Can't I say that you have a hot voice~? I thought you'd want to hear about how sexy you are."
"Kagami."
Even drunk, Kagami couldn't refuse that demanding tone in Aomine's voice. It sent chills all through his body. "Only like a couple vodkas."
"What's the bar name?"
"Seirin, why?" Kagami asked as he made himself comfortable against what he thought was a wall, but turned out to be Kise.
"I'm coming to pick you up."
"Mm fine!" He insisted, but Aomine had already hung up.
[AN: OMG I hope you don't mind Kagami's drunken awkwardness~! I swear more feels are coming up! I have a fan art for this fic too, I just am saving it for the perfect chapter to share it with! More will come soon, promise!]
