Kagami let out a low groan as he started to wake up. The sunlight coming in from the window felt harsh against his eyes, making his throbbing headache worse. He blinked a few times and noticed that he was staring at an unfamiliar window. He looked down at himself. He was wearing an oversized undershirt and nothing else. Who's clothes were these? What happened to his own clothes?
The last thing he remembered was clinging onto Aomine's arm. Oh what foolish things did he do last night?
He sat up, pulling the hem of the shirt down as much as he could. His eyes landed on the nightstand next to him. A glass of orange juice was sitting next to a small dish with a few pills in it. A note on the table read, "take these."
Kagami picked up the pills and put them in his mouth before picking up the orange juice too. The door handle jiggled and Kagami quickly put the juice down and pulled the covers up to his waist.
Aomine walked into the room, smirking a bit when his eyes met Kagami's. "So, you're awake." Aomine went to sit on the couch in the room, next to it was a table laid out with silver breakfast trays. "How're you doing this morning?"
"Okay..." Kagami slouched back against the headboard. "Is this your...?"
"Hotel room." Aomine offered no further explanation, only picked up a bottle of water and started to drink. Kagami noticed how sweaty Aomine was, the way drops of sweat and water mixed and rolled down Aomine's neck as he drank from the bottle.
"Wh-what..." Kagami cleared his throat. "What happened to my clothes? Did you... take them?"
"I did." Aomine smirked and leaned back against the couch looking at Kagami.
Kagami pulled the blankets closer to himself. He knew that Aomine must've already gotten an eyeful of his body last night, but he still felt too exposed. "Where... did you sleep?" Aomine pointed to the bed next to Kagami. Kagami looked over, noticing how it looked use and the second pillow still had a dent from Aomine's head. "Did we..." Kagami swallowed, unable to finish his question.
"No," Aomine said without waiting for Kagami to finish. "It's no fun if you're not awake." Aomine stood up, the joking expression gone from his face. "You were reckless last night. Did you really want that blonde to take advantage of you?"
That was the last thing he wanted with Kise. "No, I–"
Aomine didn't let him finish, "I'm not opposed to men who drink, but you gave up control around people you couldn't trust."
"They were my friends..." Kagami meant to say that he thought that he could trust them, trust Kise, until that happened.
Aomine put some pastries and other breads foods from the breakfast trays onto a plate. He went to the end of the bed and handed it to Kagami.
Kagami took the plate, looking down, unable to look up at Aomine.
"If you were mine, there's no way such an act of carelessness would go unpunished." Aomine's words made Kagami look up, just in time to see Aomine pull his sweaty shirt over his head. That olive skin, so sweaty... covering those muscles... Kagami could practically see every muscle on Aomine's torso.
"W-what do you..." Kagami trailed off when Aomine put his knee on the edge of the bed and suddenly leaned forward. He took a bite of the croissant in Kagami's hands. His face lingered close to Kagami's for a second longer.
"I'm going to shower," Aomine said and suddenly stood up. He disappeared into the bathroom next to the bed.
Kagami's heart was still pounding in his chest. He couldn't take his eyes off where Aomine had bitten the croissant. He closed his eyes and took a bite from the same spot, imagining that it tasted better now because of Aomine. He swallowed and looked back towards the bathroom door. "Why am I here?" There was no response. "You could've taken me home..." Kagami looked around the room again and down at Aomine's shirt. "But I'm here."
"That's because..." Aomine stepped out of the bathroom, in nothing but his boxers. Kagami could help but look down. Kagami cleared his throat and looked back up at Aomine's face to see the smirk there. "I'm incapable of leaving you alone, Kagami Taiga."
His heart skipped a beat when Aomine said his first name. He did love to hear it come from those lips. He could feel the heat rising in his face. "Then don't."
Aomine let out a sigh and moved to sit on the bed and look at Kagami. "Dating, romance, that's not me. My tastes are very singular. It's difficult to understand."
Kagami looked right back into those sapphire orbs. The words left his lips before he even thought about it, "Enlighten me then."
Aomine leaned closer, their faces now only inches apart. Kagami's heart was beating rapidly, he'd never had a proper kiss before. His eyes fluttered closed, his lips slightly parting. All he could hear was his heart pounding in his ears as he waited for those lips to touch his own.
The bed creaked.
Kagami opened his eyes again. He was alone and the bathroom door was closed, the shower already running.
