The story suggests that the reader's parents are Wonder Woman and Batman. In search of a purpose, the reader leaves Gotham to find Shazam (Billy Batson), believing that discovering the source of Shazam's powers will provide a reason to continue her journey as a hero. Whether the reader is Bruce Wayne's biological child or adopted is left ambiguous, allowing for both interpretations.

"How exactly do you know so much about the Justice League, Batson?" Gotham's new vigilante, Nightfire—better known during the day as Y/N Wayne Prince—questioned as she cornered Billy on his way home from school.
Billy recognized the youngest Wayne; they'd crossed paths when Bruce brought him to the manor under the guise of "business." Seeing her this far from Gotham caught him off guard.
"I'm just a big fan, and who wouldn't be? They've saved the world a zillion times," Billy lied, trying to sound casual.
Y/N scoffed, her eyes narrowing as she analyzed his every move.
"Right, so you're not Shazam, huh? Is that what you're saying? Because if it is, then why have you and Shazam never been seen in the same room? And how come your brother Freddy knows him, but you don't brag about it? My research shows you ran away from twenty-four foster homes in six counties, yet suddenly you decide to stay—right around the time Shazam shows up. Are you really going to tell me you're not the champion of the ancient wizard Mamaragan, and that you don't transform whenever you utter the word 'Sha—'?"
Before she could finish, Billy pressed his hand over her mouth, eyes wide with panic.
"Not cool at all, dude! Are you trying to blow my cover? And ew, did you just lick me?" Billy recoiled, shaking his hand as if to rid himself of germs. "That's disgusting!"
"First of all, don't ever put your hand on me again, Batson, or you'll get a lot worse than my tongue," Y/N warned, her voice low and threatening as she took a step closer.
"How careless of me," Billy shot back, sarcasm dripping from his tone. "What are you even doing this far from Gotham, princess?" he added, knowing full well how much she hated that nickname.
Y/N stepped closer, forcing him further into the corner.
"Listen closely, Batson, because I don't like repeating myself. One, don't call me that. Two, I need your help, so you're coming with me. Three, if you refuse, I'll make you help me. Got it?"
"Wait, so you're kidnapping me?" Billy asked incredulously, unsure of why someone like Y/N would need his help.
Y/N huffed, glancing around at the empty street. "Well, when you put it that way, it sounds illegal. I simply need your help, and if you don't give it willingly, I'll take it. Knock you out, use my powers—whatever it takes."
Billy sighed, realizing that resistance was futile. Y/N always got her way. "Fine, what do you want from me?"
"I want you to take me to where you got your powers," she replied bluntly, watching as his eyes widened in shock.
"Why would you want that?" Billy asked, more out of reflex than genuine curiosity.
"Batson, I don't want powers—I've got plenty already. I need a purpose. My parents have their reasons for being heroes: saving the 'World of Men' or 'getting rid of the scum of the Earth.' Even my siblings have their reasons, but I don't. Maybe if I do what you did, I'll find my purpose. Because right now, I'm a hero just for the sake of being one," Y/N said, her voice softening for a moment before regaining its edge. "So, are you going to take me or not?"
