As you sit on your throne, a sense of sadness and resignation washes over you. You remember the words that were spoken to you not too long ago: "Your duty is to your people, not your heart." These words have been ringing in your ears ever since. They remind you of the difficult decision you had to make to protect your kingdom. You knew that marrying a cruel, obsessive and manipulative king was the only way to ensure the safety of your people, so you had to do it, even if it meant sacrificing your own happiness.

You remember the day you had met Jaime, the man you had fallen in love with. It was just like any other day, you were having a meeting with a neighboring kingdom to discuss some problems they were having at the border. They wanted and needed your help, so you offered it, and they gladly accepted. That was when you met Jaime, and he had smiled at you in a way that warmed your heart. He cared for you in a way that others didn't, and you found yourself drawn to him.

You were a princess and a queen before you were a woman. You knew that you had to do what was best for your kingdom, even if it meant breaking up with Jaime. He was a hero, but he couldn't help your kingdom, and you had to let him go.

When Jaime had told you that he understood and would leave you alone, you knew that it was for the best, but it still hurt. You yearned for him to tell you that he wouldn't leave no matter what, but he didn't. You knew that she what needed to happen and so did he, but it still broke your heart when he said it was fine.

Maybe if you weren't born a princess, you could have been with him. Maybe if you were a bit more selfish, you could have said no. Maybe if life weren't so cruel, you could have your happy ending. But, you knew that was not the reality you were living in.

As you walked towards the altar to marry the king, a cruel knot tightened in your stomach. The altar represented not only a union but a separation from the life you had yearned for. You wished, with every fiber of your being, that Jaime would burst into the grand hall, shouting objections and halting the proceedings. But reality remained indifferent, and Jaime stood silent, his expression unreadable, as you took hesitant steps towards an unwanted destiny.

The internal battle between your heart's desires and the responsibilities that bound you intensified. The gown you wore felt like armor, shielding your vulnerability from prying eyes, yet unable to conceal the turmoil within. You yearned for the impossible – for Jaime to intervene, for the ceremony to halt, for an end to the charade that was unraveling before your eyes.

As you stood before the king, exchanging vows that tasted bitter on your tongue, you couldn't help but steal a glance at Jaime. His eyes, once filled with warmth, now betrayed a hint of sadness. In that moment, you both shared an unspoken understanding, a silent farewell to a love that could never be.

As the ceremony progressed, you couldn't shake the feeling that you were willingly walking away from your own happiness. The weight of the crown felt heavier than ever, a stark reminder that duty demanded more than just sacrifice; it demanded the forfeiture of your heart's deepest desires.

In the quiet moments between ceremonial gestures, you closed your eyes and imagined an alternate reality where Jaime stood beside you. A reality where love conquered duty, and you were free to embrace the happiness that had slipped through your fingers. But, alas, such fantasies were nothing more than fleeting illusions in the harsh reality of your kingdom.
