"Good morning!" I greeted, warm smile painted on my lips, and as usual, I didn't get a response.
I walked towards her bed, carrying her medicines and few clothes. Well, the clothes looked nothing different than the one she was wearing. "How are you today?" I asked, lightly helping her to take her clothes off, she didn't react or even uttered a word, she just gave herself to me, allowing me to dress her with the white gown. After finishing, I sat on the bed next to her and glared at the wall as well, hoping to get anything from her but she said none.
"Why do you want to save Alvin?" I broke the silence, my voice echoing in the room like a ghost. She flinched at the mention of his name, her eyes immediately fell on me, and I looked back at her. "I need to know!" "He doesn't belong here!" she said, her voice calm and distanced, it feels like words were forced to leave her lips. "He must leave the place as soon as possible!" "Before I do anything, I need you to explain everything, starting from the day you started working here, Former nurse!" I mentally highlighted on 'former nurse' her eyes shot open when she heard what I said, and her body reacted in no time, she placed her hand over my mouth. "Never mention this again!"
I pushed her hand away and stood up, stillfixing my eyes on her trembling body. Her brain had shut down. She was clammyand there was the glisten of a cold sweat. It is as if she has retreated insideof herself, instead of being here with me, she was watching in the same way shewatches television. "What are you hiding?" I questioned and she sighed, slowlystanding up on her feet. You may think I'm crazy but the way she stood up,firmly and steadily, glaring at me intensely, I can say with no doubt she ismentally stable, just like me, just like you, unlike anyone in thisasylum. "You want to know the truth?" she faked a smile, "then here is thetruth!"
"It all started five years ago when my sister called me to help her with the new patient, Leyla, my younger sister. It was Monday night when she called, her tone glittering with joy and glory, it was odd for me to hear, since I knew my sister very well, she has been always the type of gloomy person, barely smiles and barely talks to any of us. I do remember what she said that night "Sophia, we received a new patient today, the moment I saw him I wanted him, he is just driving me crazy" her words were full of lust and possessiveness, she was indeed going crazy for him, and she couldn't trust anyone to take care of him, especially the female nurses. she didn't want any woman to be closer to him, she even fired every woman in the building. Later on that week, I arrived to the asylum, completely unaware of what was about to happen. Leyla guided me to his room, 'her special room' she named, and before we get in she said "Don't get closer to him, don't talk to him and don't you dare look at him in any way!" she spoke like a sick person, taking me off guard. We entered the room, only to see the teenager boy sitting on his bed, calm and innocent, his eyes were dark but you can still see some light, hope. His body was bruised, scars painted all over his skin, I felt bad for him. and I could tell why my sister liked him that much, true, he looked gorgeous unlike the rest of the patients in the asylum. Then, I was assigned to be his nurse, giving him medicines, cleaning his room and writing reports about his condition. But I was not allowed to change his clothes, get closer to him or talk to him. I even had a timer, I couldn't spend more than ten minutes in his room. through the time I spent in his room, I noticed the boy, I analyzed his behavior and I could tell who is who! The alter was taking control often, aggressive and angry all the time, he wouldn't allow anyone to touch him because those touches reminded him of the day he was created, how that old man in the juvenile detention center used to rape him, beat him and hang his naked body on the balcony for the entire night. Leyla, loved that side of him, being arrogant and hard to get, she found this attractive. She was craving his body, wanted to touch him every day but he never allowed her, he would slap her, twist her arm and use any way to push her away. it was that way for weeks, until she found the solution to touch him without him holding her back, she started using the Insulin shock therapy sometimes, and new serum on other times. she would rape him, sexually abuse him and pour all her stress on him. She filled his brain with that poison until his brain was completely damaged and his eyes turned completely dark, she created the monster she always wanted... I couldn't take this anymore, I couldn't see the poor guy in such condition, so I tried, I tried to release him and get him out of here but he didn't want to leave, he didn't trust me at all. and before I could convince him and go on with my plan, Leyla found out and she had gone crazy, completely nuts. I can't lie, I was afraid of her, afraid of my younger sister who used to be a loving girl once upon time. In the fraction of the moment, she forgot who I am, she just threw me in this room, reported me mentally unstable. my husband filled the divorce papers as soon as he heard, he took away my child too. I haven't seen my daughter since. She is ten years old now. Leyla, sometimes come and visit me, not out of love or guilt, but only to hurt me more, to show me some photos of my ex- husband and his new wife, happily living with my own daughter." She narrated, tears streaming down her pale cheeks, the drops landing on the back of her hands. I was lost of words, I didn't know what to say, my brain wasn't functioning anymore. I parted my lips a little, trying to say anything but nothing came out.
"I don't want you to save me, I just want you to save him!" she spoke again, "he is still young to spend the rest of his life here, with them!"
