I sighed "He won't come, let's start!" I held the fork between my fingers.

"It is rude to start before everyone is seated around the table!" his deep soft voice echoed on the house as he lumbered down the stairs. My jaw dropped low and I couldn't believe my own eyes, seeing him calmly lumbering towards us with relaxed expression on his face. Without any warning he grabbed a seat as well, next to me, since he didn't like Sophia.

"Flies may get in your mouth, you know!" he gazed at me, I blinked few times and pressed my lips together. "You can start now!" he ordered and took the glass of juice and gulped few sips.

I was still under the shock until Sophia kicked my leg under the table, I flashed back to reality and started eating myself.

I stole glances at him from time to time and I felt him doing the same. He was elegantly eating and munching the food, not bothered and not disturbed by anyone, I love this, him being comfortable around us.

"What do you usually do in your birthdays?" Sophia asked, grabbing both Alvin's and my attention.

"Go to the beach, visit museums, read books and sometimes visit orphanages!" I listed, I didn't want to mention the last one, stargazing, I do it every birthday, to see my parents and tell them how my year was, I ask for good luck and heaven's love and I promise them to be a good girl next year.

"Seems boring, why don't you go to party with your friends?" she rolled her eyes playfully.

"I don't have any friends!" I faked a chuckle,

"What about your family?" she again asked and she munched her food gradually.

I looked at the bowl of soup in front of me and thought about a good answer to give but I found none, and I didn't want to ruin the good time we were having by bringing the story back up. I parted my lips to say something but Alvin was fast enough to speak, "Put a sock in it!" he snarled at her.

Sophia immediately zipped her mouth and looked down. I bit my lower lip, hardly controlling my laughter and I could see her trying to hold her laughter too. Alvin, in the other hand, just continued eating his food.

"Where is my cake?" I asked, putting the fork on the table and standing up, "I can't wait to taste it!"

She smiled and rose up on her feet "Sit down and close your eyes" she demanded,

I sat back on the chair and closed one eye and left the other open, peeking secretly at her, but suddenly a large warm hand covered my eyes both, preventing me from seeing anything. I can easily tell, it was Alvin's hand, warm and soft, making my body flinch and my stomach burst with butterflies. "Be patient!" he whispered, my heart was racing at high speed.

"The cake looks bad!" he whispered again, making me giggle loudly, "Let me see!" I whispered back between my unstoppable giggle.

"I think it would be better if you eat it with your eyes closed because you will definitely lose your appetite when you see it!" he whispered again, my breath came in quick gasps between my unstoppable giggles. Tears gathered in the corners of my eyes, threatening to spill over. Since when he started using sarcasm, I loved it on it him.

"Now, open your eyes!" Sophia spoke, "Do you really want her to see this?" he sarcastically said, I wasn't able to see their expressions but I can definitely tell they were both rolling their eyes and shooting glares at each other.

Alvin gently took his hand away and my eyeballs fell on the cake. Well, should I say the truth? It looked a little bit messy, the vanilla was all over the place and the strawberries were dripping their water over the top. "It looks good!" I smiled

"Liar!" Alvin mumbled and I playfully hit his arm, completely forgetting about the 'Don't touch me' thing, and honestly he seemed so calm about it, like it is not bothering him anymore.

Though the cake looked messy but it really tasted delicious and yummy. Alvin refused to it, he kept throwing disgust glares at both Sophia and the cake she made and I couldn't do anything but laugh at the weird tension between these two.

"Alvin!" I called out and he looked at me, "the Perseid meteor shower will reach its peak tonight"

"And?" he coldly replied

"Can you join me?" I shattered, "I mean stargazing in the backyard!"

He threw a bored look at me and wended away, seems like he rejected, fine, I will do it alone just like I have done it alone for the past ten years.

After finishing the small party, both of them walked back to their rooms, leaving me alone in the living room, lying on the couch and fantasizing about none other than Satan himself, he is so unpredictable and so sweet too, I can't count how many sides he has. But the thing I noticed lately is that he isn't acting like himself anymore, he is acting more like the real Alvin, and this has brought so many questions into my head, questions that I can never ask him in person, he may lose control and I don't want this to happen again. Even though, I brought few syringes with me in case anything happens.

By midnight, I shuffled to the backyard, it is miniature woodland of holly trees and native shrubs. I sat on the bench and lifted my head up to see the night sky, a clear night illuminated only by the glint of the starlight and the radiance of the bright moon. At midnight, yellow beams of streetlight illuminated the invading darkness, casting a myriad of shadows upon the asphalt. I tilted my head, gazing upward, eyes more open than they can be in the fullness of day, looking only at one star, yet somehow seeing them all at once. I could only see my parents shinning up there, glowing like never before, they were looking back at me too, wishing me a happy birthday and singing me a song, nobody can hear them but me, though her mellifluous echoed on the entire planet.

I closed my eyes and allowed the breeze to run over my face like a soft fabric, erasing all the pain and stress, drawing new dreams and hopes on my heart.

"Chilly!" he drawled, he came. I smiled widely and turned around to see the glowing guy who was approaching me with careful steps, "I haven't seen the moon in years!" he mumbled as he sat next to me on the bench.

"It is gorgeous, isn't it?" I whispered, again observing the magical scene that was played on the night sky. He nodded gently and we both stayed quiet, enjoying each other's silence and the loud noises of the world.

"Mother, father, Look who is here, Alvin came to see you too!" I mumbled while gazing at the stars, "Thanks to him, I'm not alone anymore!" I felt his dark eyeballs on me, peering at me.

My head turned to his side and locked with those sparkly warm eyes of his. His lips were parted a little, his expression could never be read or perused and his body tensed.

"Thank you for being here with me" I got little closer, "thank you for coming into my life" even closer, "and thank you for being the person you are!" I was now too close, and that was it. I hugged him tight, not caring about the consequences and not caring about the distance he always pull in front of me. I just needed to do it, to ease the flame of emotions inside me and to show him how much I appreciate him, no matter who he is, no matter what he is and no matter if he was a monster or Satan. He was Alvin and that's all that matters.
