I was confused at first but then the keys ringed on my ears, someone was opening the door and I had no time to run to the toilet, I widened my eyes in shock and clenched my hands on his shirt. I knew I was doomed, my journey will end here and everyone will suffer because of me, professor, the team, Sophia and Alvin. I should've been careful, I should've listened to Alexander.
I closed my eyes and waited for it to happen, but then, I felt my body being lifted by strong muscular arms, swiftly replaced somewhere. I opened my eyes and I was under the bed, Alvin looked at me with his intense dark eyeballs, "Stay here!" he whispered.
She opened the door, slowly entering the room. Oddly, her perfume was different, seems like she is using a new brand and I do know this fragrance, Yves Saint Laurent Eau De Parfum, known to be the highest ranked seductive perfume, well don't ask me how I know this but I do. She was dressed in straps short red tight dress and black high heel ankle boots, I must say she looked gorgeous, irresistible to any man, and I know what she was trying to do. This explains why she came now, it was too early for her to be here.
She walked closer to Alvin, who was sitting on the bed and trying hard to cover me with his long legs, though it was dark but the moonlight was brighter tonight, even the sky wanted me to be exposed this night.
"Too early for your usual time!" Alvin blurted, irritation blending with every word he said, his voice was different than ten minutes ago. It was now more husky, serious and devilish let's say.
"I couldn't wait until the morning!" she giggled lightly, I rolled my eyes in annoyance at her disgusting behavior while Alvin just sat there saying nothing, I could tell he wasn't even staring at her.
"But wait, I heard some weird sounds coming out of here?" she hummed, "was anybody here?" she questioned, and I felt my body vibrating when her steps got closer and closer to the bed. "I'm sure I heard someone else speaking, other than you!"
She was so close to both of Alvin and I, few seconds and I will be caught and probably killed or jailed.
"Who would come to stay with someone like me?" Alvin muttered
"I would!" she chuckled, too close, she was too close to Alvin, and I could tell she was trying to make a move, but hesitated.
Few seconds passed and there was nothing, she didn't say anything and same to Alvin, I couldn't see her face but from her body language I can tell she was focused on something, her body tensed up and she throw her arm somewhere.
"Whose box is it?" She raised her voice, I felt like someone threw a bucket of cold water over my head, how could I forget the box!!
"Who brought this here?" she yelled, throwing the fork, the bowl and few other things on the ground. "Who dares?" she gritted her teeth.
Alvin, stayed quiet, not saying a word and not making a move. And I did the same, I just closed my eyes and prayed for things to be alright after this. She can hurt me but no Alvin.
She furiously jogged over to the toilet, searching everywhere for that someone who dared to enter this room, the someone who is me. "Tell me where are you hiding?" she shouted.
When she couldn't find anyone there, she walked back to Alvin, she grabbed the collar of his shirt and said "Who is it?"
"Take your hands off me!" he warned, well, he seemed calm and relaxed unlike me.
She immediately took her hands off him and stood there, analyzing the room with her intense eyes, she was outraged, her chest rising up and down heavily.
"Under the bed!" her words broke through my eardrums like a bullet, my heart was taking full speed, I barely felt it anymore.
I watched her steps getting closer and closer to me, this is it, the moment of truth. "let's see what we have here!" she muttered, but before she kneel down, Alvin swiftly grabbed her arms tight, a heavy whimper left her lips as he pushed her away, aggressively.
"How dare you?" she yelled, the mixture of anger and sorrow pouring from her lips. She rushed closer to the bed again, only to get a punch from Alvin. I was taken aback by the scene in front of me, she fell on the floor, losing conscious. I could now see her face clearly.
"Get out!" he demanded, "leave before she wakes up!"
I obeyed his orders and stood in front of him, "what about you?" I worriedly asked, "what if she hurts you?"
"Cut this off and leave now!" he pushed me towards the door, "and don't come back here ever again, enough!" he yelled, I felt tears bolting up on my eyes. I just hated when someone yells at me, especially if it's him. I turned around and stormed out of the door, feeling my tears streaming down my hot cheeks. I was worried about him and I don't even want to imagine what she is going to do to him.
I ran out of the dark building, heading to the residence where I met Alexander and few members of the team, they looked at me in disbelief. "Elyse!" Alexander called out.
"What are you doing outside?" he approached me, his eyes showing nothing but concern, "and why are you crying?"
I shook my head "Nothing, I just had a bad day!" I faked a smile and entered the room, feeling new fresh tears flowing down my already wet cheeks, I don't know why I'm crying, is it because he yelled at me or because he will be punished for what he did to Leyla. I walked to the bathroom and washed my face, wore my pajamas and walked back inside the room. I was surprised to see Olivia sitting up, typing something on her phone, "still awake?" I said
"I'm texting my mother!" she informed. I envied her, I wish I had my mother on the call too.
Mother, I miss you and I need you more than ever, I know you would tell me the truth. Whether I want to hear it or not, you know what's best and you make sure I know that. I know I can always look to you for advice because you will tell me how it is and that's what I love about you. Your constant guidance has taught me many things throughout these years. Without you, I would never know right from wrong. Whether it was as simple as an inappropriate outfit I wore at the age of 16, or as stressful as what I want to do when I grow up, you have always been right there guiding me in the right direction. Ever since I was a little girl you have been at everything. Every awards ceremony, every sports game, every dance recital and every birthday party. Rain or shine, I knew I could count on you to be there. I wish you were here...
"Are you alright!" Olivia tapped my shoulder, I snapped out of my memories and nodded, "I just need to sleep, I'm quite tired!" I crawled in the bed, snuggling under the blanket.
"Elyse!" she called out, I hummed in return, "remember the patient I mentioned this morning?!" she whispered and I turned around to face her. "What about him?"
"I heard Leyla and Stephan talking this morning. They have some type of new serum to use on him and as far as I could hear the serum is very dangerous and it can paralyze him forever!" she informed, looking me deeply in the eyes. I choked on her words as I sat up properly and said "what else?"
"They will pour the serum in his veins two days from now!" she whispered again.
I felt my entire world shaking, my brain stopped functioning and the tic toks of the clock on the wall played a symphony that helped to add more stress and fear to my body. I rose up on my feet and ran out of the room, directly to professor's room, I knocked couple of time until he finally opened the door, his eyes were puffy and his face dry, I felt bad for waking him up like that, he looked so tired.
"Elyse!" he blinked few times, "come in" he looked worried, of course he would, my eyes were swollen and my entire body was vibrating.
I rushed inside and jumped straight into the point "I need your help!"
"What happened?" he questioned, "is your patient alright?"
"No, it's not about her, it's about someone else!" I mumbled the last words, "the patient in the room 418!"
At the mention of it, professor's face darkened as he glared at me in disbelief, you can easily tell he knew about Alvin, the way his body language suddenly changed, the way his eyeballs were moving nervously.
"Elyse, listen..." he tried to spit out something but I interrupted, "you knew?" I disappointedly asked.
