My Story
We stepped out of the bus, one by one, following professor Carlos's steps carefully until he stopped at the huge gate of an impressive wrought iron affair with spikes at the top, it was open on one side, yet was so wide anything could pass. I felt a wave of chills going down my spine as soon as my eyes met the pebble big building before us.
it is crazy to say but the sky was awash with various shades of grey, the clouds were dense and dark at the side of that building, it was almost as dark as pre-dawn, unlike the clear blue sky on the other side of the town. The air got heavier and heavier with each further step we take. it was similar to the feeling of walking towards a rollercoaster, mixture of excitement and fear boiling inside of your body. I took a deep breath and walked steadily with my mates, still not taking my eyes off the rough woolen blanket of mottled grey that covered us all and blocked out the sun. I can hear their heavy breaths next to me, my mates were terrified by the scenery of the place, it wasn't at all what we had expected.
We stood by the front door, welcomed by a strange man, brown-haired and shaggy-faced as an unshorn sheep, dressed in a white nurse uniform. his gaze was thick and sharp as he stared at each one of us like he was analyzing our souls, his lips were shut and formed into one thin line, I wonder when was the last time he ever smiled because it seems as if he never did. As the silence took over the moment, I took a chance as well to allow my eyes to travel around the place, there was a backyard on my left side, decorated with spooky naked trees, there were some that looked like the the screaming face tree in Hither Hills, you'd probably feel your heart racing if you encountered this tree. There also were few kinds of flowers settling here and there, lilies, orchids, Chrysanthemum and Aconite. Odd, all these flowers are mostly used on funerals and unhappy events, but here they are decorating every corner in this place.
"you must be Professor Carlos and his team, I beg for forgiveness if I'm wrong" his husky creepy voice broke through my eardrum like a burning arrow, his eyes still scanning each one of us. I bit down on my lip, this isn't going to be fun as I thought.
"I am, indeed!" professor nervously spoke, you can clearly hear the shattering letters on his tone, I wouldn't blame him, we were all terrified.
"Follow me!" he ordered, and firmly walked through the hallway. We copied his steps and walked on the long narrow and dark hallway, it was so quiet that you can hear each one of us exhaling and inhaling with difficulty, the footsteps echoed harshly on the black holes of the hallway. The walls were painted in creamy white color, perfectly clean and shiny, you can see the reflection of your face on them. As much as the silence was creepy but it couldn't be more terrifying as the sudden noise filled the hallway, loud voices and unintelligible words, screams and cries coming from the upper stairs. I bit my lip over and over again, few more bites and I won't have a lip anymore. the man, in the other hand, walked like a robot, you can barely hear his breathing or footsteps, for a moment, I thought he is a ghost.
He stood next to a 2-panel metal door and knocked few times on it, a voice came from the inside of the room, asking us to get in. I couldn't read the voice clearly since it was short and distanced. He opened the door and asked us to enter. I have a bad feeling about all of this.
"They are here!" he uttered, and we lumbered inside to meet a lady, somehow in the thirties of her age, she had curly red copper hair, the type that bounces when she walks. Her eyes were dark brown, sharp like an eagle. She was dressed in a black and black high Stiletto heel sandals. The white blouse covered her curvy body and seductive outfit on the sides. She looks more like a lady than I ever was. "Professor Carlos, right?" she put the pen on the desk and smirked at the professor, he nodded and grinned happily. "I'm Layla!"
