Into the future

As she sits on her grey checkered bed, all she could think about is her possible future. What does she want in her life? What does she want to achieve? If only she knew what her future holds so she doesn't have to worry as much, but Natalie tends to worry a lot. She puts her headphones in, plays "we own the night" by The Wanted and closes her eyes. Letting her mind sketch out her life like a quick doodle on a whiteboard in the back of a class.

She imagined marrying her boyfriend, who she loves very very much. That thought itself looked and sounded perfect. Natalie opened her eyes when a sad song came on, but she knew now that she could imagine being in that dream again and again. She imagined what her wedding would be like, who she'd invite, what she would wear. All of it made her smile, which she doesn't do a lot of when she's alone. Natalie can see herself standing there at the end of the aisle, waiting for her cue to walk down it to be reunited with her 'soon to be' husband waiting for her. Wearing a black suit, white shirt, dark purple tie and his signature fashion statement - his lilac Doc Martens boots that he wore for both y11 and y13 prom. She had her hair wavy/curly with the little flower jewels she also had at her prom, with her hair trailing down to her shoulders and a white knee-length dress. She had her best friends as bridesmaids and requested to have the words and vows printed on purple paper so she could read them, as well as have a chance to remember them. They exchanged vows and rings, to now signify that she had taken his name, they couldn't be happier. Everyone cheered and hugged them both before they went to the next venue for their party. Everyone was singing and dancing, without a care in the world. It was easily deemed as the best day and best party ever. For every anniversary they shared, they booked the same venue on the same date at the same time to have the party like they did when they first got married. It was their 2nd anniversary when most people realised that Natalie wasn't drinking alcohol, it was that day that they announced they were having a baby girl due in May time - not long after her birthday.

Skipping to May 14th, a week after her birthday and on her best friend's birthday, Natalie gave birth to a beautiful baby girl who they decided to call "Sairose Aemilia Jackson". They named her Sairose after a friend from school had said that if they were to have a daughter to call her Sairose, Natalie instantly took a liking to it and her boyfriend (now husband and father of the baby) didn't need much persuasion when it came to naming their daughter. Her middle name 'Aemilia' was a nickname that was given to Natalie's best friend Emily, and seeing as Sairose was born on Emily's birthday, the two best friends grew even closer. Natalie knew there and then that Sairose was already loved by all of Natalie's friends, as they all have a close connection with each other. She was content knowing that there would be a lot of people willing to help out when they need it or to have as support if something was to go wrong. A week after Sairose turned 1, Natalie's husband was involved in a car accident whilst on his bike, he was put into a coma and wasn't sure whether he'd come out of it. Everyday Natalie took Sairose to see her dad and to tell him how much she missed and loved him - how much they both missed and loved him. Natalie ended up leaving Sairose with Emily and her partner whilst she sorted their house out, keeping on top of things for when her husband comes home. A few days later she got a call saying that her husband was improving and waking up with surprisingly no brain damage. She took Sairose to go and pick him up, he was sat on his bed waiting for them and had the biggest smile on his face when he saw them. She placed Sairose in his lap and they both hugged him, he hugged them back and whispered "my two favourite girls, I'm so sorry" Natalie started crying and Sairose sat there looking confused - then started to giggle as she was playing with her favourite seal toy and was whacking it on her dad's knee. They all laughed and went back home, all three of them as a family.

Years passed and Sairose grew up. She was now 4 with shoulder-length, brown curly hair with greeny-blue eyes, running around their house with her favourite seal still glued to her hand. She was so attached to that seal, she never went anywhere without it. She took it to the park, the hairdressers, cafes, Natalie's mum's house and so many more places. She was always very aware of where it was, Sairose was obsessed with this cute denim dress with a pocket at the front, where she begged her mum to sew velcro onto the inside of the pocket and various other pieces of clothing that she had for her seal. She velcroed the seal in place so that he wouldn't fall out and get lost. Sairose was always a smart little girl when it came to both academics and just being around outside. From a young age, she had always been aware of dangers, ever since her dad was knocked off his bike, she had learnt what could be harmful to her and what to avoid. She was always a very creative little girl like her mum, but also super adventurous like her dad. Natalie spent most weekends painting with Sairose, whilst her husband took her climbing trees and going to climbing centres like he did when he was young. She was such a pretty girl, always laughing and smiling at everything with a contagious giggle who couldn't not make people smile and laugh along with her.

Natalie's dream was interrupted when her mum came in saying that it was time for dinner, she regained her present thoughts and went downstairs. She's glad that her mum came in when she did, she wanted the rest of her possible dream future to be a surprise or not thought about. She wants to experience that first hand on her own - it's her future and doesn't need anyone to tell her what she can and can't dream about.
