Chapter 22

"Welcome back Princess Okogi and Aihara" Nene said as she smiled a little
"Huh? What are you doing Nomura?" Yuzu asked
"W-well I decided that I should help around and became the new maid" Nene said as she trembled a bit
"Oh so you're the new maid now? Nice and if you need a break you can always ask for a break" Yuzu said
"O-okay" Nene said. Yuzu and Mei stepped inside the castle still holding hands
"Yuzuko?" Her grandfather asked
"Hm? Yes?" Yuzu asked as she released Mei's hand
"We must discuss something important. Please follow me" Her grandfather said
"Uh...okay. I'll be right back so why don't you go back to the room. I'll be with you later" Yuzu said
"Okay...sweetie" Mei said whispering the last part and walked away with a flustered face. Yuzu's tail wagged rapidly and covered her face
"I see that you two are starting to get along" Her grandfather said
"E-Eh? No we're not! We-we are just acting like this so you c-can stop bugging me about getting along with her" Yuzu said as she trembled a bit
"It's okay to admit that you love her" Her grandfather said
"I-I don't love her. I-I will never love her" Yuzu said
"Yuzuko" Her grandfather said
"Ugh! Let's just get this over with already. What do you want to talk about?" Yuzu asked
"Follow me" Her grandfather said as he walked away. Yuzu followed him and the Royal Guard stepped inside the castle. Vix watched the princess leave and jumped as the squirrel appeared
"S-sorry for scaring you" Nene said as she whimpered
"I-it's fine. Do you need anything?" Nene asked
"No. I just want to speak with Mei. Is she here?" Vix asked
"She went in her room" Nene said
"Thanks" Vix said and walked to the rooms
I-I really need to talk to someone about this...maybe Mei can help me...
Flashback
"Wh-what?" Vix asked as he trembled
'D-did I hear...that right? H-he plans on...murdering the Queen?'
"Getting rid of the Queen will be perfect to weaken both the King and the little princess" The man said
"B-but why would I want to join in? I-I don't want to do this" Vix said as he trembled
"Then maybe the King would enjoy seeing you rot in dungeon for messing with his granddaughter and ruining the alliance" The man said
"Th-they won't believe in that shit. I'm the strong guard in the Aihara clan. They won't throw me into the dungeon especially since I've protected them for years" Vix said
"Hehe believe whatever you like but I can convince the King about this. He'll throw you in the dungeon for sure...and who knows...I might even convince him to execute you" The man said as he chuckled softly. Vix's body froze in place and gritted his teeth as he growled
'This fucker...I'll kill him'
"So...what's your answer?" The man asked
"My answer is no. I won't join you in this plan of yours. I don't care if you tell the King about my little crush but he won't believe you. I'm not afraid of you..." Vix growled
"Very well...you'll regret it" The man said before walking away and left. Vix only let out a sigh and leaned against the wall as he trembled slightly
'Sh-shit...this is bad. Why does that bastard want to kill the Queen? Revenge? I need to tell someone about this...but who?'
"Hey Vix!" Sen said making Vix snap back to realty
"Eh? Oh hi Sen" Vix said as he forced a smile
"What the hell happened to you? Did that guy do something to you?" Sen asked as he walked up to him
"O-oh hehe it's nothing. He just wanted to talk about a training routine that he wanted me to try out to get stronger" Vix said and chuckled softly
"Oh okay. Lets get back before Kori gets worried" Sen said
"Hehe sure" Vix said

Knock Knock
"Mei? It's me Vix. I need to speak to you about something important" Vix said
"You may enter" Mei said. Vix opened the door and saw Mei standing by the balcony
"What do you need Vix?" Mei asked as she looked at him
"S-something happened today during my training..." Vix said as he looked down. Mei looked at him concerned and walked up to him
"V-vix? Is everything okay?" Mei asked worriedly as she stood in front of him
"M-mei...I...I-I don't know what to do anymore..." Vix said as he kept his eyes down
"What do you mean? Did something happen to you?" Mei asked. Vix lifted his head and wrapped his arms around Mei
"V-Vix? What's wrong?" Mei asked as she held him
"Th-that bastard..." Vix mumbled
"Vix?" Mei asked as she looked at him
"Mei...there is so many things I need to tell you but please...let's keep this to ourselves" Vix said as he pulled away from her
"Okay" Mei said. Vix and Mei sat down on the bed together
"So...tell me what happened" Mei said
"During my training...this man came up to me. I believe he's part of the Royal Guard but he never told me his name. He spoke to me in private and told me...stuff about the past" Vix said as he looked away
"What stuff?" Mei asked
"Don't say a word about this but...he knows who murdered your mother" Vix said and held her hand
"Wh-what? M-murdered my...m-mother? Wh-who?" Mei asked as she trembled
"The princess Okogi...she murdered your mother" Vix said as he pinned his ears down
"Y-yuzu? Sh-she...murdered my m-mother?" Mei asked and gritted her teeth
M-mother...
"I-I know Mei but...it's best if we don't bring this up" Vix said
"Who the hell told you about this?" Mei asked
"I-I don't know who it was. That man never mentioned his name...but I remember his looks. A grey cat with brown eyes...and...you know...now that I think about it. He sorta looked like the feline you fought with..." Vix said
"Ugh...her stupid ex. Don't remind me about that slut...she is a bitch. She's annoying too..." Mei said as she looked away while pinning her ears back
"Guess you really don't like her..." Vix said and chuckled softly
"Of course I don't but back to the topic...he told you about Yuzu?" Mei asked
"Yeah...he did. There is something else too...and this...is a little...dangerous" Vix said
"What do you mean dangerous?" Mei asked
"That bastard plans on-" Vix pulled away from Mei as the door opened and looked away
"Hm? This guy again?" Yuzu asked as she tilted her head
Were they making out again or what?
"Y-yuzu?" Mei asked
"Sorry princess. I was just sending a message to Mei from the King. He just wanted to make sure if she felt ready for tomorrow and spoke about how our people are doing" Vix said and bowed down
It's best if we spoke about this some other time or else...she'll suspect something is going on between us. I'm going to make things worse for myself...and the alliance. I should be careful...
"Are you done?" Yuzu asked
"Yes ma'am. I'll be leaving now" Vix said as he walked toward the door passing by Yuzu. Vix stepped out of the room and closed the door
Hopefully she wasn't eavesdropping on our conversation...now that'll make things worse for me. I really need to keep an eye on that bastard...
