Twelve Years

Savannah's P.O.V

December 6th

Myself, Jay, Hayley, Cassidy and Ashley are currently sitting at Starbucks organising what we are going to do for Christmas, Demi would be here but in the three weeks that we spent apart she got a job at a small cafè.

I don't want to be here, today isn't a good day, well the past week or so hasn't been good but today will mark twelve years since my twin brother Jace passed away.

"So it will be held at yours and Demi's but everyone will chip in and make something so the two of you don't have all the pressure" Cassidy spoke and we all agreed.

We went over a few more details before Ashley got up and ordered everyone else another drink and also got Jay a chocolate muffin.

My phone started ringing so I excused myself and stepped outside Starbucks.

"Hello?"

"Hello, may I speak with Savannah Lloyd please?"

"This is she, how may I help you?" I asked confused as to who would be calling me.

"This is Officer James I'm calling to inform you that your mother has passed away, I hate to be the one to tell you this but it has to be done"

"I-i uh, h-how? She was perfectly fine"

"She used the sheets on her bed, it was suicide ma'am"

"She left a letter for you, we will mail it out, I understand you are in touch with your sister but not your brother, would you like to break the news to her or would you like me to make the call?"

"No it's fine I'll tell her but can you inform my brother please?"

"Of course ma'am"

"Thank you" I hung up and went back inside slipping right back into my seat while the other girls laughed and talked about Christmas, I set my phone on the table in front of me and began to play with my drink.

I felt an arm around my waist "you okay?" Ashley asked in a whisper so she wouldn't get the other girls attention.

"I'm fine" I gave her a fake smile.

"Then why do you have tears falling down your cheeks?"

I closed my eyes and more tears fell.

I know how much my mother has hurt me but I still had a right to be upset, don't I?"

"Wipe them away and follow my lead okay?" She spoke softly.

I nodded and wiped my tears away.

"Hey guys, can you look after Jay for a few hours? Sav and I still have to get you all a present so you can't come"

"Yeah sure, we will bring her by later, I'm sure we can find something to do for a few hours" Hayley replied.

"Thank you"

Ashley and myself stood up and we said goodbye to the three of them but before we could leave Jay spoke up.

"Momma, can you tell Santa I don't want anything for Christmas please?"

"Why not sweetie?"

"I just want everyone to be happy, and you and Mommy to stop fighting it hurts my heart"

"I'm sorry Jay, I'll see what Santa can do" I gave her a kiss on the cheek before leaving, as we both stepped out of Starbucks Ashley wrapped an arm around my shoulder and pulled myself into her side as we walked to my jeep.
