Lost and Found

Ryland's POV

When Finns phone went off I thought nothing of it. Instead went back to racking my brain about she could be. Itd been 2 days 4 hours and 26mins since Dani ran off. No one could find her. We were all exhausted and worn from endlessly searching.

His answer tore my attention to him
"Dan! Dani where are you!" It was her. She called. She was alright. He set his phone down and put it on speaker. "Dani are you there! Hello?"

"Finn" Her voice was so quiet and pained. It broke my heart instantly.

"Dan, yes Dan I'm here" He told her. And then Sloan came over and sat next to him "Dani"

She wasn't answering. Why wasn't she answering. My heart sank with her reply "Finn. The woods behind campus, I'm trapped. Fell down a cliff"

I jumped up from my seat ready to rush out and find her, she'd been trapped for two days. Gage put I hand on my shoulder stopping me. Adley putting her hand on my arm and pointed towards the phone.

"Ok Dani. Can you see anything around you? Can you hear anything?" Finn was trying to stay calmn. Freaking out would freak her out probably more than she already was.

"No. It's to dark, there's no noise." Her voice was so scratchy and broken. It didn't sound like her. "Hurry please"

"We're coming Dani. We're coming. Hold on." And then the line went dead

"What happened! Get her back! We have no idea where she is still!" I frantically yelled.

Finn tried again. It went straight to voicemail. Her phone had died. So now she was not only trapped and alone but she had no means to call for help anymore either.

"I'm going." I shuck Gage's grasp from my shoulder. Grabbing my jacket and putting on my shoes.

"Wait Ryland. We don't even know where she is." Finn says getting up off his bed.

"I don't care! I'll search the whole God damn forest! I'm not leaving her out there alone any longer!" A hand on my arm stopped me. I looked down to see Sloan.

"If you're going to go look for her you're going to need help. You're also going to need to bring water and a blanket with you. She's going to be dehydrated and freezing." She says while dropping my arm and grabbing my bag.

I take it from her going over to Gage's mini fridge and placing water bottles inside. Then I grab the blanket Adley had finished folding and out that inside as well.

Finn grabs two flashlights and puts on his jacket and shoes as well. Then Gage does the same.

Before we leave Finn turns back to the girls. "When we find her we'll call you. Stay here." And then we're off. Running out the building and into the woods behind it.

We walk around for hours calling her name. It's freezing out here. She's been in this for 2 days, alone. Because of me. Because I went to Nayas. Because I forgot my stuff. Because I didn't explain to her what was going on.

We're still calling her name, walking around and listening for a few minutes before moving on. Just before turning and heading somewhere else I hear it. A faint voice.

I can't tell where it's coming from though. Then I here it louder "-re! I'm here!" It's her. She's calling from somewhere in front of us. We look at each other and then take off towards the sound.

I come to the edge of a cliff. She said she fell down a cliff but I don't see anyone down there. It's so dark and so steep. I go to turn away and continue looking when she calls out again.

She's down there. I bolt down the slope "Shes here! I found her!" I call back to them. Then I see a body pressed up against a large tree. It's her. I fall to my knees in front of her. I pull my bag off and grab for the water bottles, pressing one to her lips.

She drinks so fast she throws it back up. I tell her to drink more slowly. Then Finn and Gage come up behind me. As soon as Finn shines the flashlight on her body my heart breaks.

She's soaking wet, pinned against a tree and covered in cuts and bruises. Then he shines up to her arm. It's black and blue. Trapped between two rocks and angled unnaturally. She looks up to. The movement making pain flash across her face.

I move to block her view and place her head on my lap. Her hair is caked with blood. I turn around to see Finn and Gage canvassing the situation.

They're talking over what to do quietly. "We're going to have to pull it free. These rocks go deep. No way were moving them." Gage says

I nod my head, turn back around and begin to pull off my belt. This is going to hurt badly, she needs something to bite down. I bring it in front of her face. The fear that flashes across her face makes me want to burst into tears.

I explain to her the situation. She nods and opens her mouth. She's so strong I think while placing the belt inside. She bites down I turn around nod to them and they get in position. Then I grab her face in between my hands running my fingers along her cheeks and begin the countdown.

The scream that racks through her at 3 makes my stomach drop. Then I noticed her go limp in my arms. Oh no, oh no.

I start crying. Trying to shake her awake, calling her name but nothing. She's not answering. She's passed out from the pain. I grab the blanket out of my bag and place it over her. Then I pick her up bringing her limp body into mine.

We run as fast as we can back to campus. Call Sloan to call an ambulance on the way. Telling her to have them meet us by the back of campus. Right before we get there she wakes up. I can tell she's staring at me but I can bring myself to look down at her yet.

When she jerks her arm a little I finally do. She's pale and dirty. Her eyes are dull and her smile is so faint.

When the paramedics arrive I place her onto the gurney and catch my breathe. Then I'm following the paramedics into the back of the ambulance. Amongst the questions they're asking me her eyes begin to close and then the machines start to screech.

"She's going into shock." The paramedic says beside me. As I watch them frantically work the only thought in my head is. Please don't leave me, I can't loose you again.
