When I finally came to it was dark. I attempted to move but a pain shot through my arm. I looked up and saw it trapped between two huge rocks. It was bent in an unnatural way. I tried again to move without jostling it but this time a pain ran through my back. I couldn't move.
I looked around and saw my phone a few a feet in front of me. I could reach it if my arm wasn't trapped. This was a terrible situation. I was unable to move, unable to call anyone and no body knew where I was. Hell I didn't even know where I was.
I closed my eyes and tried to stay calm. If I could just get ahold of my phone I could call Finn. But what would I tell him? I didn't have a clue where I was at. I couldn't hear anything but cricket and I could barely make out my surroundings in the dark.
My breathing was increasing, my heart rate spiking. I was beginning to panic. I needed to calmn down, to keep a clear head. Someone will find me.
'But what if they don't? You don't even know if they're looking for you.' My brain supplied. I closed my eyes trying to will away the paniced thoughts.
I began to feel something crawl on my face and out of reaction I jerked my arm to try and swat it away. Last thing I remember is blacking out while screaming at the pain.
The next time I woke up was to something patting my cheek. I blinked my eyes open at the feeling. The light assaulted my eyes and made my head ache.
Adjusting my eyes to the light I noticed it was day time. Then I looked up to the source of the patting. It was a steady drip off the tree branch above me. 'It must've rained' I thought.
Looking over my body again the first thing I noticed was my clothes wear soaked, then I looked up at my arm. It sported a deep black and purple bruise all long the spot pinned against the rock. Pulling my sleave down slowly, with my good hand, I screamed at the pain. Then I noticed the skin tapped against the rock also had dried blood, in thick flow tracks.
A chill began to creep into my body. I curled my good arm around me and brought up my legs as far up as I could without hurting my back.
I looked at the slope of land in front of me. A distinct trail was created by broken branches and disturbed brush from where I must have tumbled down.
Looking behind me I realized my back was pressed up against a large tree. Almost big enough to block my entire body. So from the front no one could see me unless the looked down the cliff and behind no one could see me because I was being covered by the tree.
The situation went from horrible to down right inescapable. Exhaustion was starting to take over. I tried to fight against it for as long as possible but eventually lost.
When I woke up again it was to a buzzing noise. The leaves were shaking so annoyingly. My eyes shot open at the sound. It was my phone someone was calling me. It was still to far but with every buzz it slid further down the hill. The wet earth and leaves helping it decent.
A few more calls and it would be within grasp. I reached my hand out as far as I could without pulling on my trapped arm. I could almost touch it. One more buzz and it would be at my fingertips.
Then the buzzing stopped and my heart sank. I was so close, so close! I took a deep breathe and lunged for it. Screeming out at the horrible pain clawing it's way through my left arm and chest, radiating from my shoulder.
As I blacked out again, my hand grasped around smooth plastic and glass.
The next time I came to it was dark again. My body was freezing and my stomach aches from being empty for so long. How long had it been 1 day? 2? I could feel the mud caked in my hair and the burning tell of an infection in my still trapped arm.
Then I noticed the phone clutched in my hand. Quickly I unlocked it and dialed the first number I saw. It rang twice before being picked up
"Dan! Dani where are you!" It was Finn. He sounded frantic. I missed his voice. "Dani are you there! Hello?"
I pulled the phone closer to my face "Finn" My voice barely coming out a whisper. My that sore from not drinking and raw from screaming
"Dan, yes Dan I'm here" I could hear shuffling and then "Dani?" It was Sloan. They must've been together. I interrupted them. They weren't looking for me.
The thought made my heart break but I had to try and tell them where I was. It was my only chance.
"Finn. The woods behind campus, I'm trapped." My voice still so quiet. "Fell down a cliff"
"Ok Dani. Can you see anything around you? Can you hear anything?" He calmly asked but I could hear the fear in his voice.
"No. It's to dark, there's no noise." My head was becoming heavy now. My throat and mouth so dry. I was starting to loose feeling in my toes. "Hurry please"
"We're coming Dani. We're coming. Hold on." Was the last thing I heard before the call cut out. Looking at my phone I tried to turn it back on, no luck it was dead.
I threw my phone out of anger. It barely went anywhere, I was so weak. My body felt like concrete. I was so tired. They're coming. A little sleep wouldn't hurt. Just to rest my eyes till they get here.
