Chapter 6- Confusion City.

Clary POV

Sebastian pulls away from me smirking with an unknown secret, and releases me, letting me collapse onto the ground. I look up to see my class, combined with the class from across the hall, all gathered in a semi-circle, trying to get a look at me.

My eyes are immediately drawn to one unfamiliar figure, a pearl in a sea of rocks. The first thing I notice about him is his golden locks, elegantly framing his angelic face. When he notices me looking at him, he smiles cheekily and winks at me. I notice his eyes momentarily flick up to Sebastian before he moves to stand beside Alec.

"Miss Fray? What on earth is going on?" Mrs Ainsley demands, towering over me, hands firmly placed on her wide hips. I look at my brother in disgust and wipe blood off my mouth with the back of my hand. "Why don't you ask him?

"Ask who?" She asks, looking around the corridor so quickly that it looks as if she's trying to watch a fly. "There's no one there."

Panic begins to fill up in my chest, more tears threatening to spill. I look up to see Sebastian beside the lockers, arms folded, looking at me smugly.

"But he's right there!" I screech, fear eating its way into me. "How can you not see him?" I mutter to myself, my mind spinning at a million miles per hour.

I watch as Alec sends the golden boy a knowing look, and then looks at me, his eyes a serene sea. I switch my gaze to the golden boy who was studying me, his golden eyes alert and I notice as he slowly slides his hands down to something in the waistband of his jeans. A dagger.

"See who? What's she talking about?" I hear a high pitched voice ask.

"What?" I started breathing deeply, not understanding why they couldn't see my brother.

I feel strong hand begin to dig into my shoulder and I feel warm breaths next to my ear. "They cannot hear or see me, my dear sister," he says, before kissing me once on my bruised jaw, then he turns and starts to casually walk down the halls, away from me, as if he was taking a morning stroll.

I turn to face the other students just in time to see the golden boy take out his dagger and start to move forward, but before he can bring any attention to himself, Alec pushes him back and whispers something into his ear.

I start shaking before hearing an agitated voice speak up. "Miss, I think it's best if Jace and I take Clary to the nurse," Alec suggests, before yanking the golden boy towards me. No, not the golden boy; Jace.

I feel strong arms lift me up off the floor. Not terrifyingly strong, like Sebastian, but the strong arms that offer protection and safety. I look up to see who it was holding me; Jace. I look into his golden eyes, searching for emotion. The only emotion in can see in his eyes is pity, pity for the crazy girl who sees invisible people.

Well done Clary, you're officially the most embarrassing person in the world.
