Chapter 2- Irritating Little Miss Perky.

Clary POV

"Clarissa Fray, is it?" asks the plump, perky woman behind the desk- definitely too perky for an office worker in a high school.

"I prefer the name Clary, thank you," I say, a fake smile plastered to my pale face.

"Alright then, Clary," she says, over pronouncing the Clary. "Your first class is maths. It's in block C, room 4." She hands me a pile of papers and turns around to face her computer.

I cough loudly to get her attention. She spins around and studies me, as if sizing me up for a fight. "Who are you?"

"Clary Fray, you were literally just talking to me," I state, annoyed that this woman is wasting my time, making me even later for class.

"Oh right of course," she giggles. "I have the memory of a goldfish, I do."

"Do you know where room C4 is?" I ask.

"Of course I do," she states as if I had asked a stupid question.

"Well can you take me there, please?" I sigh, shoving my papers into my bag.

"Oi," little miss perky shouts, ignoring me completely. "Blue Eyes! Get in here now!"

Bewildered, I see a guy with startling sky blue eyes and raven black hair come walking into the office. I notice little silver scars marking him all over his calloused hands and the purple bags under his eyes. His body is slouched, as if he hadn't slept in days. The teenage boy notices me studying him, and shifts uncomfortably, glaring at me. I snap out of my daze, and return my attention to the plump office lady.

"Are you going to show me where to go, or not?" I ask the lady for the final time.

"No, I'm not," she screeches as if by asking that question I had insulted her greatly. "Blue Eyes will take you."

This time it was my turn to notice him staring at me, studying my small height and body size, as if he was expecting something different.

"Are you coming or not?" Blue eyes states, now at the office door. How had he moved so quickly? I shrugged off the uneasy feeling and nodded, following him out the door.

"So Red, where we headed?" He asks, his tone light and casual.

"So, Blue Eyes, I believe I am headed to C4. And don't call me 'Red', my name is Clary."  I reply, struggling to keep up with the stranger's quick pace.

"Okay, Clary, C4 it is. And don't call me 'Blue Eyes'," he says as he notices me struggling to keep up and slows his pace.

"So what do I call you?" I ask, finally walking at a comfortable pace.
"Alec," he states, stopping and turning to face me, holding his hand out for me to shake. "Alec Lightwood."
