we're back in this situation, huh?

"JOHNNYCAKE, DON'T YOU wish we could get out of here?" I wondered, staring up at the stars. He didn't respond for a good ten seconds.

"Yeah, somewhere without greasers and soc's. Just plain, ordinary people." He said, looking up at the stars as well. We sat there, in a surprisingly comfortable silence. I could feel a weight being put on my shoulder, slowly. Turning to look to my side, Johnny had fallen asleep. I smiled for a little while, at the sight of Johnny asleep, then I got up so that he could lay down properly. He looked pretty cold, so I took off my hoodie and laid it on top of him.

I didn't want to disrupt his slumber, so I walked off to a park that was fairly close to the lot. It was actually very cold that night, especially because I was wearing denim shorts and a short sleeve shirt.

Sitting down on a bench, I took a deep sigh, able to see my breath. All of a sudden, there were sounds of an engine revving loudly. That sound alerted me of soc's around, and knowing that they took a car probably meant there was more than one.

Trying to ignore the soc's I looked down, acting like they weren't there, hoping they didn't see me in the darkness. Unfortunately, they walked over to the bench I was sitting on. There were about five of them, they were all super tall too. I'm not very tall for a 14 year old, about 5'0.

"What'ya know, it's the girl with her little greaser defender at the drive-in. Well where's your superhero now when you really need him, huh?" One of the soc's teased, he grabbed my chin to tilt it upwards so that I was looking up at him.

"Are you gonna talk and defend yourself, or what princess?" He growled, I didn't want to satisfy him, so I said nothing. One second later, I was on the floor with a burning sensation on my cheek. I didn't have a switchblade with me, and I couldn't fight off five soc's by myself.

One of the soc's kicked me in my stomach, which knocked the wind out of me. I tried getting up, but I ended up getting pushed back down. One of the soc's leaned over me, giving me the ability to kick him in the crotch. He winced, and fell to the ground.

"You're gonna regret that, you slut." Another soc grabbed me up by the collar of my shirt, pushing me back to another soc, which made me bump into his chest. I felt another sting to my face, but around my eye area. My whole body ached, I was being tossed around like a beanbag.

It got serious when two of them took out switchblades. My eyes widened out of horror, because of my fear of blood. I was already in enough pain. I was then pushed to the ground again, this time in the pavement. I skidded across the floor, making me scrape my knees and elbows. I was already bleeding, and this was adding onto the fact that I was about to be cut by the soc's.

"How about we start right here?" One of them said, dragging the switchblade against my cheek, which hurt because it was near where I got punched.

This went on for a while of me being kicked around. They finally got tired and drove off, leaving me on the floor. I couldn't stay here, I had to at least try to get as close as possible to people that could possibly help me, which I am referring to the gang.

I crawled as much as I could, and when I got to the sidewalk of the Curtis's house, I took a small breather. I was on the verge of passing out, my vision growing black spots randomly.

I groaned in pain, and made it pass the fence and onto the front porch. I could feel a bit of tears roll down my cheek, stinging my cuts. I made a loud cry, trying to get someone to come out if someone wakes up. I saw a light turn on, thankfully, and since I knew someone was coming, I rested my head on the floor, about to pass out.

"Oh, my god, Ellie. What'd you do this time." A voice said, picking me up from the floor. I opened my eyes slightly to see who it was, it was Sodapop.

"We're back in this situation, huh?" I mumbled, giving him a weak smile.

"Shush, Ellie, it's gonna be okay." Sodapop cooed. He carried me into the house, and gently laid me into the couch, then hurried off to the bathroom to get things to clean my cuts.

Finally, I can rest now.
