The bell rang in my ears as I heard murmurs and small chatter grow into loud shouting and laughing. School ended, so I went to my locker and grabbed all my possessions that I need that day, and met Ponyboy before we left.
"Oh okay, bye. See you tomorrow, Tessa!" Ponyboy said, smiling brightly. His eyes sparked with excitement and glee.
"Who was that, Ponyboy?" I ask, as we walk beside each other, back to the Curtis's house. He looked up, and his whole complexion brightened up.
"That was Tessa, she's in about two of my classes. She's real nice too." Ponyboy ranted, going on and on about her. I nodded, and put on a slight smile.
"Hmm, you seem really happy to be around her." Inserting a slight hint of a dismal tone. It's hard to seem as a happy person for someone who loves someone else, when you love them.
"Yeah, I really like her. She's nice, she's a soc too but she doesn't mind me. Said that I don't act like a bad greaser. God, she's real pretty too." Ponyboy said, in awe.
"Must be nice, huh. Finding a girl that's good-looking and a good personality." I replied, curtly. I had to hide my disappointment, which didn't really work well.
"You okay, Ellie?" Ponyboy stopped, looking into my eyes. It was a bit overwhelming, his eyes pierced into mine. The gray in his eyes were extremely defined, almost silver.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Don't worry about me Ponyboy." I shot him a weak smile, then looked down on the sidewalk.
"Ellie, wait watch out." Ponyboy grabbed me around the waist, and pushed me against his chest. I guess I somehow didn't realize that I wasn't supposed to cross the street.
"You gotta be more careful, Ellie. I don't want you to go and get run over." Ponyboy joked, chuckling a little.
"Sorry, I zoned out again." I apologized.
"No, it's okay. Don't apologize." Ponyboy reassured. I nodded, and felt heat rush to my cheeks. Ponyboy decided to hold me in that position for almost a minute, until we had to cross the road. My cheeks had a bright red tone.
"Hey, Two-bit. You skip school today?" Ponyboy asked, walking into the house and throwing his backpack on the floor. Two-bit was watching Mickey Mouse, so all he did was nod, and take a swig of his beer.
"Well we gotta clean this dump up, I invited Tessa over to dinner. Darry already approved." Ponyboy said, gathering the extra plates. God, why would he invite her over. I shook off the thought, and started on my homework.
