we'll remember these days, forever now.

IT IS THE last day we have at this cabin, we're leaving today. The whole gang goofed around as usual, joking and wrestling with each other. Like a family. I was digging through my bag, when I spotted my polaroid camera. My eyes brightened up, getting an idea.

"Hey guys, let's take a picture!" I suggested, gathering everyone. We took a picture together, waiting for it to develop. As it began to develop, I could make out everybody's faces.

Two-bit and Steve were cheesing real big. They had big toothy grins, you could see even part of their gums. Sodapop had his usual, superstar smile that could never get old. Darry had a slight grin, and so did Ponyboy. Dally just had a straight, cold face. Johnny still looked scared in the picture, though.

"Hey Ponyboy, wanna take on of just you and me?" I ask, tapping his shoulder. He gave me a big smile, and nodded. We took two, so that I could have one and so could he.

"There, we'll remember these days, forever now." Ponyboy said, laughing. I laughed back, then tucked the picture safely in my pocket.

"All right, we all need to be outta here in about 20 minutes, so everyone pack up!" Darry announced, heading to his room.

Everyone started shoving their clothes and toiletries back into their bags. I gently rolled up my clothes and put them in my backpack. I gathered all my hygiene items and makeup and put it in a makeup pouch.

"Is everyone ready?" Darry asked, looking around.

"Yep, let's go!" Sodapop said, running towards Darry's truck. Johnny, Ponyboy, Sodapop, and I went with Darry, leaving the rest of the gang to go with Dallas.

"Hey Darry, can we stop by my house? I need some more clothes." I asked, poking my head up to the front seat.

"Of course, El." He responded curtly. We parked in my driveway, and I hopped out of the truck. Ponyboy came with me, just in case. I successfully climbed up to my window, opening it. I climbed in, and took a long look at my room.

I started putting more clothes into my backpack, then looked around on my bookshelf. I grabbed a small picture album, and some notes off my bulletin board. I read one of them.

"Look at the sunset everyday, for Pony." I smiled at the sticky note, and put it in the picture album. All of a sudden, I heard the door open furiously.

"Eleanor! Why the fuck were you gone? Do you know how much trouble you've caused?" My mother started yelling at me. This was not my mother. Her hair was all tangled and look like a rats nest, the odor that she carried with her was not pleasant. Her eyes were wide opened, red with sleep deprivation.

"Mom, I..." I began to say, shoving all my things in my backpack and zipping it up. I threw it out, and looked at Ponyboy, making sure he caught it, and he did. I turned back around to see my mother real close to my face.

"You worthless whore!" She slapped me across the face, and I was taken aback by it. I stumbled backwards, putting my hands against the windowsill.
All of a sudden, she grabbed a glass jar in my room, and threw it on the wall, next to me. I dodged the shattered glass, but tripped over my own feet.

"You come here." She snarled angrily, tugging at my hair. All of a sudden I felt a blow to my stomach and a kick to my legs and stomach. I couldn't even process what was going on.

I heard yelling, thuds, and glass shatter in Ellie's room. I decided to set down her backpack, and climb up to the window to see what was happening. All I could see was Ellie on the floor, and her psycho looking mother, kicking her.

"What the-" I say, stopping myself so that I didn't have to wait any longer to help Ellie. I pulled her mother off of her so hard, she stumbled back onto the floor. Quickly, I helped her up, then successfully got her down to the ground. She was limping pretty bad, so I wrapped my arms around her waist and legs, carrying her.

"God, what in the hell happened?" Darry asked, confused by what he saw through the window. I rolled my eyes at the thought of it.

"Ellie's psycho mother started beating her." I stated, setting her down in the car. Ellie calmed her breath, then looked at me.

"Thank you." She said quietly, then rustling through her backpack.

"No problem." Just as I said that, she pulls out, what looks to be a notebook.

"At least I got my photo album!" She cheers, trying to brighten the mood. I couldn't help but laugh at her.

"C'mon Ellie, take a nap or somethin'." I said, wrapping my arm around her shoulder. She rested her head on my chest, slowly falling asleep. After she fell asleep for sure, I looked through the photo album.

All her photos were pictures of her, her mom, and a man. I was assuming that was her father. She didn't have many other people in the photos. There was one other girl, but just her.

"Ellie, let's go inside." I heard someone say, I slowly stirred awake. Lifting my head up, I see everyone heading into the house, and Ponyboy next to me.

We walk into the house, two people immediately flopping onto the couch. I just walk into Ponyboy's room, which was technically my room too.

Ponyboy then walks in too, then hesitates. I stare at him, waiting to see if he would say something. All of a sudden he buries his face in his hands, then groans. Then Ponyboy flops onto his bed, laying next to me.

"What's wrong Pony?" I ask, shifting my body to face him.

"I have to go on a date with Tessa tomorrow." He groans out, I tilt my head.

"It can't be that bad. She's your girlfriend." I say, faking my cheeriness. I said the last sentence real quiet.

"Hah, you don't have to act happy for me." Ponyboy, chuckled.

"No, I am!" I protested, obviously protesting for a lie.

"Sure Ellie." He smirks, then closes his eyes.
