We set our date for this Saturday, which was today, and we had talked on the phone everyday up until now. He had even sent me a good morning text, a sweet reminder. I was instructed to wear casual clothes that still looked nice, which was great because casual clothes was literally all I had. If he had told me to wear something fancy, I would have literally had to go out and rent a tux or something.

Instead, I wore my sacred pair of black skinny jeans. They were the most comfortable pair of jeans ever, but they hugged my body so well, I only wore them when I was trying to impress someone. And I had come to the conclusion that I was trying to impress Aiden. I wanted him to think I looked good. I paired the jeans with a gray button up that had withstood the test of time and I was ready to go.

When I looked in the mirror before stepping out the door, I actually thought I looked decent, a first for me. I didn't look horrible or smell pizza and garlic. I looked normal and smelled slightly like perfume. You couldn't put on a lot of cheap perfume, so I just sprayed my beauty supply store spray in front of me once and walked through it. My shoes were just some black sneakers, but I had scrubbed them with soap and water and they were clean again for the most part. They would never be fully white on the edges again, but it was as close as it was going to get.

I was driving to Gigi's, the result of a little white lie that I had told Aiden about where I lived. He insisted on coming to pick me up and I didn't want him to find out that I lived in a crappy apartment in a crappy part of town. I wanted something good to come out of this and I knew that wouldn't happen if he knew how different our lives were. I could never pass myself of as rich, but middle class, I could do that.

Right?

"Ace, oh my gosh! You look so adorable and your ass looks fantastic!" She held my hand and spun me in a circle, slowing when my ass was within her sight. "Gosh, being a dancer gives you such a nice shape. It's not fair."

I giggled, the compliments giving me a much-needed confidence boost. "I've told you to start coming to my classes for months now, but you don't listen to me."

She swatted my arm playfully. "Oh, you know good and damn well I have no rhythm at all. You just want me to take class with you so that you can laugh at me."

"Point taken, but on a serious note...Do you really think I look okay?"

"Oh bitch, you look great. Really." Her voice changed from one of excitement to a more serious note. "Look, I am really sorry about what happened the other day. I'm really happy to see you so happy talking about someone. It's nice and I would never want you to think I wasn't encouraging that." She pulled me into a hug and my eyes misted, but quickly stopped once she smacked me on the head. "Oh, shut up. You can't be over here crying when you have a boy coming to pick you up. You have to look fabulous."

We sat down on her couch for a few minutes until we heard the knocker on her apartment door and suddenly my heart started racing a million miles an hour.

"I'll get it!" Gigi beat me to the door and my heart started beating even faster. I hadn't had a chance to explain to her the whole situation about him thinking this was my place.

"Oh my God." Her face fell as she swung the door open, revealing Aiden standing there holding a fruit arrangement and another box. He was smiling until he saw Gigi's face.

"Do I have something on my face?"

I was about to start shaking her until she said, "No, I'm just pissed at the fact that it's not illegal for people like you to be that sexy. It's just not fair to the rest of us." I wanted to laugh, I really did, but I was too busy agreeing with Gigi.
