Ace P.O.V.He walked into the room with his head down. He looked like he was scared to come in honestly. I didn't know him other than the mind-blowing night we shared last night...or many nights ago apparently...but I could tell just from his aura that it was something he wasn't used to feeling. He paused a few feet past the doorway and looked at me. Just his eyes meeting mine alone caused a chill to run through my body.
I turned my head to look at Gigi. "You mind giving us a minute?"
She stared back in doubt. "You sure babe?"
I snorted. "I'm positive. You won't hurt me, will you?" I glanced back at Aiden, a playful smile on my face. Of course I didn't think he would hurt me.
"Not in a million years." He responded back. His voice was deep and sure. It gave me a lot of comfort.
I looked toward my doctor. "Go check on your other patients. I'll be here, I promise." I winked at him, trying to wipe the furrowed brow off of his face.
The lines in his face melted as he smiled. "Don't worry. I'll give you your space. I have a few more hours on rotation and I'll come back to say goodbye and to introduce you to your other doctor."
I pouted. "Aw, but I loved you so much."
He shook his head and turned to the door. "I'm loving the energy. Let's try to keep it this way, huh?" The last part was more so directed to Aiden.
"Hear that? You've got to keep me happy." I had time to be sad later when I was alone. There were people here now. I didn't want to be sad in front of them.
"I'll do my best Doc." Hell, even I wasn't convinced of that.
"I'm sure you will." He touched a hand to Aiden's shoulder before escorting Gigi out of the room. The door clicked softly behind them, although the sound felt as if it resonated throughout the room.
Hm.
Guess I would be the one to break the silence. "Come and sit, please."
He obliged, but left the chair against the wall instead of bringing it closer to the bed. I decided not to press him to move it.
"I'm not sure how to ask, but...I need you to...."
"Catch you up on everything you don't remember?" He offered.
"Yeah, exactly." I pursed my lips. "I talked to Gigi and she told me...some things, but...I think you are the only one who can tell me the things that I'm missing in a larger detail."
He didn't respond for a while and I was pretty sure he was in shock. "Are you okay?" I asked.
He let out a deep sigh and I wiggled my way up in bed, hiding the pain of my head through a grimace. "I'm okay. I want to explain how I feel to you, but I don't want to scare you off and I need to make sure you're okay first."
I rolled my eyes. "I've got a staff of personnel making sure I'm okay and Gigi just listened to me complain for half an hour. I think I have enough energy to listen to you complain to me for ten minutes."
He laughed. "That sarcasm is still there, I see."
"Good to know that doesn't change in the future...or the present...I'm not sure how this works really. It's like really shitty time travel." We both shared a good laugh, clearing the air in the room a little bit.
When the laughter subsided, he finally spoke. "We had an argument before you went out and I wish we hadn't." He paused. "I was so...angry."
"Was it about this Jason guy?" Gigi had given me the cliffnotes of the story, but it was so much information so fast that I still wasn't fully comprehending.
