After pulling on some clothes, I walked down the hallway heading to the front door, but paused by the doorway when I heard speaking."Okay, so if he's fine, let me see him." I peeked around the corner. He was successful in gaining entry by pressing himself to the wall and sliding around Aiden's tall frame.
He sighed, slightly annoyed by everything that was happening. I could tell through his sigh. "You know, you were never this disrespectful before. I should have August punish you."
"But you won't because you're not that person anymore. You and I both know that." He was holding a paper bag, which I assume had the soup in it.
"Are you telling me that I'm no longer deserving of respect from you?"
His eyes widened. "No! Look, if you thought that was disrespectful, then I'm sorry for doing it. Just...please don't tell August. It won't happen again." His eyes drew downcast. "I'm just trying to see my friend. I'm concerned about him." He held his hands up. "No one's taking your Dom badge. Although I have to admit, you haven't been wearing it lately." He quickly stumbled over his words to correct himself. "Not to say that you should! It's just a nice change. Why are you laughing at me?"
I couldn't see Aiden, but I heard his low chuckle as well. "I don't know. I just..." He sighed. "I just don't care. Would it be nice to have it back? Sure. But I'm 1000% okay not having it. I was happy before. I'll be happy now. All I need is Ace. The rest is just extra."
I melted at his words, my body warming immediately. He loved me. I knew that. He'd said it before. But it was just weird having this sort of third person view of our relationship, an out of body experience almost.
"Exactly. Seeing you happy even without all the extra that sometimes comes with the lifestyle makes me happy. My older brother finally smiling again. Right now, you look as happy as you were before the-. " He trailed off before pointing his eyes back at Aiden in an accusatory manner. "Wait, why are you so happy?" And in that moment I knew I had to save Aiden.
I stepped out from behind the wall, pretending as if I didn't hear any of the conversation that just took place. "Mason! Didn't expect to see you today."
He turned to me, smiling at me brightly before letting it fall. "Well, you don't look very sick."
I shrugged. "I guess I'm feeling better." I looked down towards the bag that he was holding in his hands and clasped my hands together, trying to get off the topic. "I hear you brought soup."
He held it up, stepping away from Aiden to put the soup on the counter. "Yeah, I was told you were sick, so I brought some soup because I knew you wouldn't be- What the hell is going on here?" He turned around mid sentence with a confused look on his face.
My eyebrows pulled together. "I don't understand."
"Neither do I." He crossed his arms. "All I know is that you don't look very sick. In fact, you look pretty good - like happy good - and you're never happy when you're sick. And Aiden's all happy and you guys are being weird and- Oh my God." He put his hands over his mouth, his eyes shifting between us rapidly, a smile forming on his face along with a short breathy laugh. "Jesus Christ, are you guys fucking?"
How in the fuck did he-?
"Oh my God, you totally are! Oh my God!"
Aiden rolled his eyes. "Mason, we're not-"
Mason glared at him. "Don't start lying." Aiden glared back, but Mason didn't back down. "Your rule, not mine." He turned back to me. "When did this happen? How did this happen? Fucking finally, i'm so excited for you guys. I knew nothing could stop you two!"
