23) The tubes

Conall walks with his five tubes over the grounds. He spots his friends on their place and he smiles bright when he sees them. He walks up to them and sits down. They are sitting between the forest and the lake, next to a big tree. They realise that this spot was taken before, because there are a lot of things craved in the tree.

Conall lays the tubes in the middle of them. "So what can this mean?"

Everyone looks at the cubes in silent.

"Well, only one way to figure out." Thierry says. He takes one of the tubes and starts to examine it.  Conall takes one as well. He does the same things which he did during the moment they celebrated his task. And also this time he can't find some things. He holds the tube in the light, he makes sure the tube doesn't see light at all, he starts to pull on both sides but nothing works. The tube stays the same, and he sees that the others didn't come with something either.

"Come one! How difficult can it be?" Faolán says a frustrated and he throws it away, the moment he threw it he realised what he did and he gasps.

"Faolán! Be careful! This isn't just a random stick or something, you can't throw them around." Roselyn says stern and she gives Faolán a deadly glare.

"I- I... sorry... it wasn't my intention. I will get it." Faolán says with red cheeks.

"No I will get them, just continue guys, here take this one." Conall says, and Conall gives the fifth tube to Faolán. He stands up and walks to the direction where Faolán threw the tube. He comes to the side of the forest and he looks to the ground, looking for the tube. He finds it pretty quick and he runs towards it, he sees that the tube got a great hit because it stands in the middle of ground, covered in dirt.

Conall pulls the tube out of the ground, and rubs the dirt of the tube. While he does that he sees that a small symbol is appearing on the tube. His eyes are growing big and he immediately runs back to the group to show what just happened.

"Guys look! I found something!" Conall says excited, and he shows the tube to the others.

"Omg, how did that happen?" Thierry says excited as well.

"It was stuck in the ground, so I pulled it out and rubbed the dirt away, and then it just appeared." Conall says, and he inspects the symbol. He remembers it from something but he doesn't know what it was.

"Conall... what if it is related to dirt, maybe the others are as well." Roselyn says, and she already starts to dig out a hole for the tube she is holding.

"Dirt... earth...-" Conall says while thinking hard. "-earth is an element. Guys that is it! The tubes represent the four elements, look this symbol is the symbol of all the elements combined, it are runes don't you understand."

Conall gets excited and he starts to examine the other tube more. If this is the earth, then there must be somewhere the rune of only earth. Conall looks at the side of the tube and he rubs with his nail over the bottom. He feels some relief and he starts to scratch harder. Before he knows it he finds the symbol of earth, a triangle pointing downwards, and a line in the middle.

"Look, here it is. The symbol of earth. You have to scratch the bottom of the tube, there you will find the symbol of their element!" Conall says excited. Everyone is doing what he says, and Conall takes the tube that is left. He starts to scratch, but he can't find anything on this one...

"I am sorry but I forgot my runes, Conall can you help me?" Thierry says. Conall takes his one and he sees that he has air, a triangle that is pointing to the top and having a line in the middle.

"This is the air one, what do you have?" Conall asks to Faolán and Roselyn.

"Fire!" They both say in choir. Conall raises an eyebrow, it can't be two of the same.
