Conall came back from the Shrieking Shack and he felt like he wanted to do something. After spending most of the time with Katsumi, he is now realising that he misses him a lot and he wants to see him as soon as possible. He also wants to do something special, and not the usual talking they always do.
"Uhm guys, do you know something that I can do with Katsumi? I am sort of new with all this stuff, and you all have so much more experience than I have." Conall asks a bit awkward.
"I have the perfect thing for you Conall, come with me I will show you." Thierry says, and without giving the others a change to speak he walks away with Conall.
They are walking through the castle and to Conall his surprise they are going downstairs. Conall tried to find out where he was going but Thierry didn't say anything so Conall gave up soon enough.
"Tada! Here we are!" Thierry says happy, pointing at a painting of a bowl of fruit.
"And this is?" Conall asks while raising an eyebrow. He isn't going to have a date while staring at a portrait right?
"This is the entrance to heaven. I overheard some people in the hallway talking about this place, so I immediately went down to see if they were correct, and my lord you don't believe what I found." Thierry says excited and he starts to tickle the pear in the bowl. Conall looks at it and then the portrait starts to open up like a door and Conall could see a room behind it. He walks towards the room and he gasps. In front of him were hundreds of house-elfs walking around. He spots five identical tables as in the Great Hall, and everywhere is food.
"Welcome to the kitchens." Thierry says gleaming. Before Conall knows it he is surrounded by house-elfs holding plates high in the air. In complete confusement he takes a few things and he eats it. He immediately gets an idea.
"Thanks Thierry for showing me, I know now what I want to do. You are the best." Conall says, and he ruffles through Thierry his hair. This was a pay back for what he did this morning and he starts to run away while laughing.
"Alright touché romance man. But I will get you back for this." Thierry says and he walks away.
"Okay lets see..." Conall says and he starts to take a lot of food. He takes them in his bag and then he thanks the house-elfs for helping. He walks out again and immediately walks towards the owlery. He writes a short note with '8 O'clock lake -C' and he looks around for an owl. To his surprise he spots Katsumi his own owl and he gives it to him.
"Will you bring this to your owner Katsumi? I know that you will find him." Conall says and he gives a stroke to the owl. The owl nibbles in his finger and then he flies out. Conall looks at him flying towards the castle.
Conall sits down at the side of the lake. He lay down a blanket and he takes all the food he took from the kitchen. He looks at the lake thinking about the tournament. He can't get that idea out of his head, he thinks about it every single moment. Looking up things, speculating what the next task will be, thinking how the other champions are doing it.
Then out of a sudden someone wraps his arms around him and Conall immediately turns around to see who it was. Of course it wasn't a surprise to see Katsumi and he hugs him back.
"What are you planning little sunshine?" Katsumi says. Conall grins and points at the blanket with all the food.
"I wanted to do something special, so I decided to have diner with only the two of us. I took some food from the kitchens and I thought that it was a nice idea to picnic." Conall says with a big smile.
"That is so sweet Conall!" Katsumi says and he gives a small hug again. Conall smiles bright and he sits down. He makes a plate for Katsumi and one for himself and they start to eat.
"You know, I am so glad that we kept being friends." Conall says and he stares in front of him. It was indeed a good job that they stayed friends. He only saw him for one year, and after that year there paths got separated and they could only see each other during the holidays. They had to stay in contact through letters, and then only a few times during the holidays, and that for five years.
"Yeah me to. You know that I kept all your letters you wrote to me? Sometimes when I am feeling down I look back at them, tho I have to admit that I haven't done that for a long time." Katsumi says, staring in front of him as well. Conall gets a big smile when he says that. He kept all his letters as well, and he always felt a bit silly for doing that. But now Katsumi is doing it as well it doesn't feel that wrong anymore.
"I kept them to. It felt that you were still a bit with me." Conall says with a smile. He looks to Katsumi, who now looked back at him. They smiled at each other for a while.
"Remember that one time you send me a package? Three owls were zooming into the Great Hall, exhausted of the journey. Everyone was staring at the owls, pointing at it. First I couldn't believe that it was actually for me, and then I saw your handwriting." Katsumi says gleaming.
"Well I couldn't give you nothing for your birthday. Besides, it was made for you." Conall says with a smile, thinking back at the chess game he gave to Katsumi, with personalised chess pieces. "How about that time the weather was so bad, so the owls weren't allowed to send letters. Yet you kept writing frequently, so eventually I got this huge amount of letters."
They both laugh thinking back at that moment. They got so many adventures already, and they haven't even seen each other that much. Conall thinks back at those moments more than usual, because it comforts him a lot. Conall sits a bit closer to Katsumi and Katsumi does the same.
Eventually they snuggle against each other to keep each other warm. It is getting more and more chilly, and before they know it the first snowflakes start to fall down again. They eat the last things that are over from their picnic and they keep talking about some adventures they made during their holidays. They ignore the people from Durmstrang that are walking back from the Great Hall to their boat. They kept talking until they were really tired. They say goodbye and Conall walks back to the Beauxbatons carriage.
When he comes back in his cabin, he sees to his surprise that the others aren't sleeping yet. They are waiting eagerly to hear more about his date, and with a warm feeling he starts to tell them everything.
