The squad enters their cabin and Conall throws his bag in the corner. He lays down on his bed. Their first schoolday is over and he loves this school. The professors are amazing here and they teach on a different way then they do at Beauxbatons.
"I love this school." Conall says with a sigh. He smiles bright when he lays there on the bed, looking at the ceiling. He could never have dreamt that he would be on the grounds of Hogwarts right now.
"Well, I think they can learn a lot from Beauxbatons. They may follow some rules, but they haven't learned anything from their etiquettes. You can see they don't have that class here." Roselyn says serieus and everyone is quiet for a while.
"Well, I think it is amazing here. Just some more freedom. It is always so strict at Beauxbatons. Why can't you see that we can have way more fun here!" Thierry says excited.
"Well... fun or not, I won't accept this behaviour." Roselyn says stubborn. Thierry and Conall look at each other and they start to chuckle.
Faolán stayed silent the whole time and after a while he starts to talk. "Guys, if it is strict or not we are still here for one reason, the tournament. So why aren't we going to do the thing where we came for?"
Faolán holds up a piece of paper and Conall can see Faoláns name written on it. He gets a smile on his face and searches immediately for a piece of paper as well. Faolán is right, they really need to give up their names as soon as possible. Conall writes down his name and his school on the piece of paper and he looks at the others.
"You are sure you won't sign up for the tournament Roselyn? This is your only chance." Conall says teasingly.
"Yes Conall, I am sure of it. Stop pushing me, I won't risk my life for a game." Roselyn answers stern.
"Alright alright milady, what you want." Conall says while chuckling and he jump of his bed ready to leave for the great hall. The others are also ready to go so they head back to the castle, with their piece of papers clutched in their hands.
When they enter the Great Hall Conall is again amazed by the appearance. Their was a blue glow over the whole Hall because of the blue flames that are lightening the Hall. The candles are gone, the tables are at the side and yet the Hall is still completely filled. Everyone is sitting around to see who is signing themselves in. Conall can see some people he recognises from Beauxbatons, yet he is a bit disappointed. He can't find Katsumi's face.
Thierry walks past Conall and he touches Conalls shoulders. Conall realises he stopped walking and he quickly walks after Thierry. Now he is noticing the ring around the Goblet of Fire. he is wondering where the ring is for, but it is probably there for a valid reason.
Thierry walks through the ring without hesitation and he proudly puts the piece of paper in the Goblet, and Faolán walks right after it. Everyone starts to clap when they put their name in the Goblet and the two turn around and look at Conall.
"It's your turn brother." Faolán says. Conall smiles weak, checks one last time if he can see Katsumi. When he doesn't see his face he turns back to the Goblet of Fire. Some people start to cheer when he walks up to the Goblet and he gets a really exciting feeling. He smiles bright, walks through the ring and than stretches his arm out ready to let loose of the paper. He hesitates for a second, then he let's loose and the flames start to dance around his paper.
Conall turns around and looks proud at the group. Everyone is cheering in the crowd, but when he leaves the circle then the applause ends again and everyone goes further with their conversation. For some reason Conall feels sad that the cheering is over, he really liked this attention and enthusiasm for him.
He joins the others and when he looks at the entrance he sees Katsumi walking past with a couple of friends. Katsumi spots Conall and Conall smiles. Katsumi smiles back and he walks further, probably to his common room. The others walk away, back to the carriage but Faolán looks right through Conall.
"And? Have you told him?" Faolán whispers.
"No... I can't tell him. Sorry Lán, but I just can't do it." Conall says ashamed.
"You have to tell him, you have to tell them." Faolán says, pointing out at Roselyn and Thierry whom are walking in front of him.
"I can't promise you to tell it to Kat... Something is just holding me back from it. But I will tell the others, I promise."
"And mom and dad? Have you told them?" Faolán says serious.
"Now you are saying it.-" Conall eyes widens. He completely forgot to tell it to his parents. "- I completely forgot. I will be heading to the owlery alright? I will be back soon."
Faolán nods to him and than hurries so his is walking next to the other two, while Conall runs to the other direction.
Conall already spotted the owlery when they entered Hogwarts. It was a lonely tower on the grounds, so it was not difficult to find it back. Conall gets by the tower and he starts to climb the stairs. Then he enters the building and he looks around amazed. Because it is in the evening the owls start to wake up and Conall smiles at the sight of owls flying in and out. Conall takes a place in the corner, he sits down and takes a quill and some parchment out of his pocket.
Conall reads over his letter through and through. He has no idea if he gets the message clear. He always finds it hard to write down important things. Everyone always said that you have to write everything down, and he is trying but he never comes out of his words. When he reads it over one more time he is happy with it, he rolls the parchment and searches an owl. He hopes he choose a school owl. He says where the owl needs to bring it, watches him flying away and then he heads back to carriage where the others are waiting.
When he enters the carriage he finds a cheering crowd. They were probably not the only one who decided to sign up this day, and everyone is cheering that it is getting official right now. He sees they gathered some butterbeer and he takes one. Then he sees Thierry waving at the entrance of their cabin. Conall then sneaks off, some people calling his name but he ignores them and goes to their cabin.
It happens more often that the four of them take some distance and just stay away from the group. They don't like the attention that much, of course it is fun to be in it for a moment but it should not take to long. Besides, they just want some privacy if they talk about things.
He closes the door behind him and the sees the others just chilling. Conall gets an idea. He places some trunks on top of each other and then he stands on it as well.
"Let's toast, on the four us! Of how far we have come, how close we are, and how great we are. We are all ready to challenge the tournament and we need to be proud of that. That signing up may doesn't count in the end, because only one gets chosen, but for us it means a lot. It is a verification of how strong we are right now, how advanced we have become in magic that we are ready to fight in the tournament and that says everything." Conall says, raising his glass of butterbeer.
The others grin with his speech and they have a glass of butterbeer as well. They raise their glass as well and they wait for Conall to finish.
"And let this also be a test of our friendship. If one of us get chosen we need to support that person through and through. We will help him, we will support him, we will be on his side during the whole tournament. Jealousy is okay, because I will get jealous if on of you two get chosen.-" Conall says while looking at Thierry and Faolán. "- But I will also be proud, proud that one of my friends got chosen, so I will support him through and through. So will you guys follow me with this idea, on our friendship."
"On our friendship!" Everyone says in choir.
