Laura
The feeling of uncertainty wasn't pertinent as Laura stood at the entrance of Katey's room. Her shoulders leaned closely to the door frame which was decorated with pink flowers and rainbows. Her hands held a tray of cookies and three glasses of mango juice as she watch father and daughter smile to each other.
She knew that moment wasn't going to last but she could feel it stamping itself into her soul.
Jonathan sat cross-legged on the floor, he allowed Katherine use crayons and pencils for a make over on him. He sat so still, he even made few pouts when she asked him to. Katherine's face held a frown, a very professional one as she did all she could to make her client look fancy indeed.
"Stop moving daddy. I'm trying to give you a nice blush like snow white." Jonathan sensed Laura's presence and charmed her with a smile. He watched her walked into the room and place the tray on the floor as she dropped down beside him.
"Oh baby! Daddy looks pretty."
"Jusy pretty? But mom I'm trying to make him look dashing."
"Then he looks more dashing than ever." Jonathan's laughter made Laura's nerves twist in a spiral jam. Katherine smiled with pride at her mother's vocal accolades.
His laughter sounded throaty and every bit of huskiness came off it when he complimented her very skimpy night dress.
"Thank you. Your mom gave it to me."
"Well remind me to thank her as well."
Laura chuckled, she could feel a certain kind of heat tickle through her skin.
Was she a shitty mom to be very turned on infront of her daughter?
Her subconscious ignored her and ogled continuously at the very dashing man beside her that had all shades of princess crayon on his dark, handsome face.
A while ago, worried and perplexed was how she felt. Sharing with Jonathan a page from her past wasn't easy, not every man wanted an abused woman even though it was many years before she knew him. It had gone better than she had a expected.
Last night ran through her mind which made her drop her head comfortably to the foot of Katherine's bed in sighful satisfaction.
After watching a movie, Frozen part two, with Katherine. She had made them watch it three times and she sang every song no matter how off key she went. Laura was sure she would sit in their homemade cinema and watch any movie a hundred times again if it made Katherine as happy as she was last night. After doing their best to put their hyper daughter to sleep, a bedtime story from Laura as Jonathan added few sound effects worked it's known magic.
They had watched another movie together, she had felt awkward at first but after a few minutes into the Chief Daddy movie, their laughter brought them together with his arm around her neck to her waist, slightly on her behind as she leaned into his chest taking in his heavenly scent, with her legs nuzzled together. His other arm made traces of shapes, she didn't really care to fathom except that it made her feel safe and warm, on her raised knee.
They had sat in silence and laughter. It felt like the best night of her life. Just being with someone that made her wild and calm at the same time. If this was love, Laura wanted a whole planet of love.
After the movie, he made her a meal of cereal, which she ate after mocking him that cereal was the only meal he could 'cook up'. He didn't eat with her, he wasn't a fan of cereals. He told silly jokes and relived his hilarious childhood stories with his brothers and his mom. His avoidance of his father made Laura more comfortable to stare at his moving soft lips and his funny demonstration of how his junior brother, John, got chased by a chicken. Apparently, the almighty John was scared of chickens.
