Faces blanched at John's saturnine statement. It wasn't a time to speak of anything pernicious but as much as the truth felt bitter it is what it is.
"Don't say that John please." Laura's voice sounded feeble and strained.
The thought of not seeing her baby girl smile anymore was a jab to her soul. It broke her and she just couldn't think that way.
John apologized for his blurt, he meant no harm. It was the lawyer in him that couldn't help but reason that way.
"They are coming back home, no matter what." Unlike Laura, Jonathan's voice held anger and a chilling declaration.
The thought of not playing ridiculous games with his princess or telling his mom how much he loved her filled his whole being with vehement emotions.
John nodded to his brother as Jackson's phone rang.
"Hello, any news?" He listened for a few minutes then he sighed as his tensed shoulders relaxed. "Thank you, can your team stay around the area, for back up. Our father is a dangerous bastard."
Jackson clicked the 'end call' button, "She found them, they are in an abandoned factory. She said she would send the address to me. She says it's a forty minutes ride if we leave soon."
"Did she see them?" Laura asked, her heart beat had increased. There was an adrenaline rush which pounced through the room.
"She says she didn't but the GPS in Jonathan's car, the one Lawrence had taken this morning, puts their location at the warehouse."
"It's our realest lead yet but it could be a scam. They could be anywhere." Frustration swept through Jonathan.
"We have no choice, we have to do this. It's all we got." The detective deadpanned. He didn't understand why they weren't rushing to their cars and to the warehouse already.
Jonathan didn't want to make any mistake, so he did the only thing he knew how to do best. He thought like a business man.
Before any business he would strategize in a way that his opponent would be hapless. He would focus on his ultimate goal and then intricate several plans to yearn him the result he desired.
He desired to get his daughter and mother back, so he made strategies to do just that. Like a scud, he had a floor plan.
"I have a plan. It's shitty but it's worth it. We all have an advantage, a certain strength and we are going to use it. Whatever we do the goal is to bring Katey and Naomi back home, bring down Marcus and whosoever that is working with him and secure Laura's heritage. We do this together. We end that bastard today. So here is the plan.."
As Laura listened to Jonathan, she became more proud of the man he was. She felt her heart swell and the butterflies in her stomach soar. The fact that he wanted to protect what belonged to her despite all these madness made her want him more.
She wondered what her parents would think of him if they were alive. She knew Katherine, her twin sister, would approve. In a way, Laura could feel it. She closed her eyes in surrender as her twin sister's face became so vivid and like a wind caressing her ears she felt the spirits of her family, her kings men and her people. They gave her strength and courage. Their blood that flowed through her veins pumped vigilantly.
They were with her even before she could remember, that thought made her nerves fill with content.
She brought her focus to Jonathan, he spoke with might and a renowned grace. His stance resembled that of a man addressing a boardroom.
She almost chuckled to herself when she felt an approving tide of arousal flow through her.
He might not be royalty but he had the brave heart of a king.
