⚠️️TRIGGER WARNING⚠️ i think, not telling you what. Cause that would spoil it, but be prepared.

He was losing oxygen, fast. The crack in his helmet had alarms and warning flashing on the screens. (Think Iron Man)

The fight had been brutal. Worse than anything he's ever seen. He gasped in pain when a throbbing went through his side. Tears prickled at the corners of his eyes, not only from pain, but from grief.

One hour earlier;Lance pov

"Alright team, remember: don't fight unless you need to. We get the info, we get out. Got it?" Shiro's voice sounded across the comms. Although he was right in front of us, the comms were the better option for stealth. Speaking outside our helmets would be too loud.

The mission was easy; get in, get the information, get out. We had to be extra careful, as our lions we're back at the castle. Bringing them in would be too dangerous.

Nods were seen throughout the whole team, and Shiro snuck in. The control room was empty, the screen showing a purple message in Galran. Pidge set to work, Shiro at her backside. Hunk, Keith, and I each went to different parts is the gigantic room, scouting out the area. It was just like any other enter and gather mission. Easy, and fast. Usually ending with no injuries or casualties.

It was the calm before the storm. Everything was going smoothly, until a masked druid, who seemed to make himself invisible while hiding, dropped from the ceiling. A scream was what alerted the rest of the team.

I whipped around, and my breath got stuck in my throat.

"Katie....."

A look of fear was permanently frozen across her face, blood dripping from the wound on her head, pouring down her face. She could only make it out of this alive if we got her back to the pods ASAP. Shiro, after she had been struck, had gotten in a fight with the druid. His galran hand glowed with power, and his face held a fury that I've never seen before.

"ONE OF YOU, GET HER BACK TO THE CASTLE!" Shiro screamed as he dodged a blast of purple. Hunk raced to the control panel, only to be stopped a Galran commander.

An laugh echoed across the room, overwhelming the sound of fighting,

"You're too late paladins, this will be your doom!" An army of soldiers flooded the room. It didn't seem possible. We checked for life forces, there shouldn't be this many.

I gulped as my breath became ragged,

"Allura, we need back up! Send the li-," my words were cut off when I heard static. The comms were down. Out of my peripheral vision, I saw figures coming towards me. I got out my Bayard just as they reached me, and I was fighting for my life.

"Foolish paladin! You think we would let you get away, call for help!? Ha! You're castle was taken care of, sent to another dimension. Now you're here, and this will be your death bed." The commander announced, pulling out his gun. He pointed it right at Hunk, who was busy battling some of the soldiers.

The words got stuck on my tounge. My eyes widen as the blast goes off, and his body crumples to the floor, Limp. Dead.

"NO!" I wail, sending a massive blast out of my Bayard. The tears I didn't know that we're falling got heavier, blurring my vision. The blast I let out hit a big portion of the soldiers, bringing them down just like Hunk.

The commander growled in frustration, marching towards Shiro. The druid managed to get him tied up, but he was fighting with all his will. I couldn't loose someone else. He stepped over Pidge's body like it was nothing, just didn't want to get anymore blood on his boots. I aimed my Bayard as it formed a sniper, and pulled the trigger.

The commander fell, his blood splattered over the control panel. I let out a little breath as Shiro forced his way out of the restraints and knocked out the druid.

A sharp pain forced me to turn around. One of the galran soldiers had thrown a dagger of some sort and sliced my arm. Her long hair pooled over her shoulders, and her eyes were a piercing grey. Too close to use my long-range sniper, I had formed it into the Altean longsword, just like Keith's. She unsheathed her own, it a deep purple like everything else.

Our weapons clashed, and Sparks flew. Not metaphorically, but literally. I used combinations of slashing, dodging, and force. My style wasn't just one, but multiple and my own, unpredictable. Like the ocean. I used that to my advantage, and caught her by surprise.

You never realize how horrific it is to take someone's life until do it for yourself. My sword sliced and squelched through her abdomen, blood poured around the wound. He eyes were wide, staring into my face.

At first I felt accomplished, that I had won the fight. But now, it was terrifying. The lights in her eyes dimmed, and the last words echoed in my ears.

"Verpit Za".

My eyes were torn from the corpse on front of me when I heard Keith.

"SHIRO!"

The champion was shaking as the blast racked through his body, purple lightening glowed all around him. Takashi screamed in pain, until it stopped. The druid had won. Shiro's steaming body slumped to the floor like the others before him, and it hurt much more.

Keith's face was covered in tears, much like my own, as he seen his brothers body touch the floor. He yelled in rage and sadness,

"ILL FUCKING END YOU!"

A cold laugh broke out, the second in command, one of the last soldiers. He had his hand over a red button, one that could only promise doom.

His eyes twinkled,

"This is the end paladins."

He pushed it.

The blast tore apart the ship, sending everyone flying into space. A sharp beam cut my side, making a rip in my suit.

I tried calming my breathing, looking around for the only one I had left. My breathing stopped when I saw him.

It was so much worse to look at it. It hurt to the point where I could feel pain in my chest.

Keith was gone, his corpse floated through the debris. Similar to the one that had cut my side, a beam was straight through his throat, his helmet was missing.I was the only one left.

Now

It hurt so much to breathe. My eyesight was already filling with black. I was suffocating. I wasn't helping my chances by sobbing either, bit how could I not? I lost who I consider family, right in front of me.
Shiro was like a father figure, but also a brother. Keith, my faithful rival, was my brother in everything but blood, just like Hunk. Pidge, Katie, was my little space sister.

I could've been faster. I could have saved them. It hurts so much.

The helmet was flashing, warning to get oxygen now. I couldn't move, couldn't find energy to save myself. My body was just floating there. I took my last breath of air and closed my eyes. Maybe I could be reunited with them, and leave my body laying the atmosphere. Just lay in the atmosphere.
