Lance's face hurt from smiling. He can't remember the last time that happened, or the last time he had this much fun.
A 10,000 year war doesn't take breaks. You don't have much time to relax and just breathe. It was taxing physically and emotionally. Hell, how many war veterans have PTSD? Anxiety? Permanent wounds?
The Voltron crew fights relentlessly, Allura's 'we have to go, go,go' attitude wasn't helping much either.
Birthdays were a special occasion. Apparently, Allura was a big birthday person. They were like the best day in the year.
For shiro's birthday, he finally got to sit back and relax. Act a little younger and try to act less traumatized.
They all got to choose something they love, and Allura went a little over the top.
Lance's birthday was spent on a beach.
It wasn't Earth, but it was close enough. The air was non-toxic, breathable. The water like liquid was safe.
To say Lance had a blast was an understatement.
And he totally won at chicken. It was fun seeing how Keith flailed off Shiro's shoulders, successfully loosing the game and almost drowning his older brother-type figure. He came up out of the water looking like a drowned rat.
Lance and Hunk: 1
Keith and Shiro: 0
He doesn't know where she found them, but Lance was ecstatic Allura found Water guns. And, of course, sniping the rest of the team. He's the sharpshooter for the reason, the rest of the team came to acknowledge this again when he shot them in the back of the head with a stream of the planets ocean.
But the best part was when he was able to swim out into the ocean. It was a deep purple color, but it acted just like water. Just like the oceans back on Earth. He swam under waves and occasionally got smacked in the face as a wave was breaking.
Lance couldn't have been happier during a intergalactic space war between evil purple furries and the power rangers of the universe.
