Daddy-Casey One Shot for Meg <3

Meg fiddled with her mobile phone while she waited for her two year old daughter, Mary, to pick out a toy from the toyshop. Meg was a single parent. Her boyfriend Casey broke up with her when she was three months pregnant, only, he did not know she was pregnant at that time and neither did she. He told her that the band was more important and having a girlfriend right now would push him down. After Meg found out that she was pregnant she tried to call him and tell him after they broke up, but he changed his number and also moved to a new place so she had no means of contacting him. After some time she gave up looking for him and started to take care of herself for her child's sake. She got a job as an assistant in a firm that paid a fairly good salary to keep them happy. Today was Mary's second birthday so Meg brought her to the toyshop to buy a gift for her. She told Mary that she could have whatever she wanted. Mary chose a collection of barbie dolls. Trisha went to the cashier to pay for it.

"That will be $25 please," the cashier said. Meg looked up and said, "Casey?"

The cashier looked at her and as a matter of fact it was Casey. "Meg?" he asked as he handed the bag to her. 

"What are you doing here?" she asked. She thught that Casey would be touring the world with the boys, not stuck working as a cashier.

"Don't you know? We split. Jake and James went solo while the rest of us were stuck looking for jobs." Casey said sadly.

Meg had not been keeping track on the boys whereabouts because she was busy with Mary so she never knew even though it was all over the news.

"What are you doing here at a toyshop?" Casey asked.

"Um.....just buying a gift for my daughter, Mary," Meg said looking down at Mary.

"OH!," Casey said, "You got married?"

Meg shook her head and said, "No." and she held Mary's hand and walked out of the store. Casey ran out of the store following her and asked, "Meg, is she mine?"

Meg just nodded her head and Casey looked from Meg to Mary and back to Meg again and then said, "Why didn't you tell me?"

"When I found out I tried to contact you but you changed your number and you moved away. What else could I do?" she yelled and Mary started to cry so she picked her up and said, "We havve to go Casey."

But Casey held her free arm, "Please Meg. Give me another chance. I want to be a part of my child's life."

Meg shook his hand away and said, "I took care of her for two years by myself Casey and I can cobtinue to do so."

As she was walking away Casey said, "What are you going to say to her when she asks about her father,"

Meg stopped in her tracks and sighed. She knew he was right. He came closer to her and Meg said, "Ok fine. You can be in her life. But we need to take baby steps. I still don't trust you."

Casey said, "Thank you so much Meg," as he took Mary from her arms and into his.

Casey stroked Mary's cheek and said, "Hi there little one. I'm your daddy."
