*Steph’s POV*

James and I were best friends since we were in kindergarten. Now we are in high school. He is the popular jock and I’m the school nerd. I don’t have any friends except James. Everyone in school were shocked when they found out that a guy like James is friends with a girl like me. His friends tried to get rid of me but always failed. James has been with me through everything. He was my hero, my savior. He saves me when I am bullied and stands up for me whenever I’m in trouble. He even broke up with his girlfriend, Barbara because she was being mean to me.

James and I were walking home from school one day when all of a sudden Barbara comes out and kisses him.

“I’m sorry James please let’s get back together. I need you” she said.

James was not buying it and pushed her off saying, “No Barbara. We are never ever getting back together. I no longer love you. I love someone else and I loved her even when we were together.”

Ouch! That hurt. I love James but he loves someone else.

“WHO IS IT?” Barbara asks angrily.

James looks at me and then back at Barbara. Wait. Why did he look at me?

“You like her? This nerdy piece of shit? She doesn’t even look good. All she has are brains and no beauty” Barbara says laughing.

“She is not a piece of shit. She is the most beautiful girl I have ever met and no I don’t like her, I love her. Always have and always will” James said to Barbara.

Barbara looks at me with rage in her eyes. She was about to hit me but James stops her. Barbara admits defeat and leaves.

James looks at me and I said, “You love me?” he nods his head.

“I love you too” I said.

He smiles and kisses me.

“Will you be my girlfriend, now and forever?” he asks.

“Yes I will. Now and forever.” I reply and we walk home holding hands.
