Dawn watched from inside the Pokemon center as Ash trained outside with his Pokemon together with Serena. The chestnut haired girl thought that she might as well train with him too for her next Showcase. 

Ash had suggested that Dawn train with her to give her tips from her contest that Serena could use in her showcase. But Dawn refused and said that it'd be better for Ash to train with her. After all, they've pretty much known each other since they were kids...

Dawn furrowed her eyebrows as she looked down at the ground and began to clench her fists in her lap. She started remembering what Serena had told her the night she first came to Kalos...

"Hi, Dawn. Mind if I sit with you?" Serena smiled.

"Sure!" Dawn said happily as she patted the seat beside her. 

They were at a cafe together and Ash, Clemont, and Bonnie were still inside eating while Dawn and Serena went outside for some fresh air. 

"So, I wanted to ask you something." Serena said.

"Go for it." Dawn smiled at her.

Serena sent her a smug smile. "How long have you known Ash?" 

Dawn's eyes widened at the chestnut haired girl as she started thinking about it. How long has she known him? She honestly couldn't tell because she never really counted the days. You never do when you're having fun with someone.

"Um, I don't know... a few months?"

"Oh?" Serena said with a half smile. "And how well would you say you understand him then?"

Understand? Just what was this girl trying to get at? "I don't know what you-"

"Because I understand him, Dawn. Not you. We've known each other since we were kids and I understand how he feels." She said.

"What are you trying to say?" Dawn said through gritted teeth.

Serena stood up from her seat as she dusted off her dress. "What I'm trying to say is that you could never understand Ash the way I could. What makes you think he'd pick a girl he's known for a few months over a girl he's known since he was a kid?"

"Pick? You're cr-!"

"Oh, please... Don't try to act like it's nothing. I see the way you look at him. You're in love with him, aren't you?"

Dawn's eyes widened at her as she furrowed her brows and looked down at the ground. She couldn't deny that what she felt for the raven haired trainer was more than just a friend. She wanted to be with him and stay beside him always.

"Figured as much. Give it up, Dawn. In the end, it was always going to be me." She said as she walked back inside the cafe and took a seat next to Ash. Dawn got up as she began walking back to the Pokemon center sadly.

Did their journey... mean nothing? Their friendship? All the memories they made? Was it all nothing? 

"Dawn."

She looked up and saw the last person she wanted to see.

Ash.

She wished she could just disappear right now and Ash would forget that she ever came here in the first place. She wished she didn't have these stupid feelings for the raven haired trainer.
