"Bae! Bae! Wake up!" Feeling the blankets snatch off me, I sighed heavily.

She go make me kill her in front of my son.

"Maine why is you yelling?!" I snapped, carefully sliding out the bed. Kaisers bassinet was connected to our bed, and I didn't want to shake him awake. He was a sound sleeper otherwise.

"Splaine! We gotta go Carmen just called! C'mon get the baby ready!" Watching her run around the room like a chicken with it's head cut off, I slowly became aware of what she said and joined her. I didn't brush my hair, my teeth or wash my face. Nothing just straight threw a hoodie on and some joggers. Kaiser would have to go in his pajamas.

"Ima go make him some bottles, get the chargers and the baby!" Nodding to her I snatched our phones and chargers up, throwing them in her purse. Cuddling Kaiser to my chest, I met her at the door as she put away his bottles.

"Ready?" She asked breathlessly. Mentally going over everything I nodded yes and followed her out the door as she locked it. The elevator ride felt like it was taking forever, but before we knew it, I was un swaddling Kaiser and she was buckling him properly in his car seat. Covering him with his blanket, I jumped in the front seat and sped off. I know I shouldn't with my son in the car but I couldn't help it.

"I can't believe this is happening." Reaching over to grab her hand, I squeezed it tightly for reassurance.

"He good, I knew my nigga was a solider." Swinging into a parking space, we jumped out and rushed inside just as Chris, Airi and Tray did. Tackling them in a group hug, we rushed up to the desk. Same old same process. The kids couldn't go on the floor, and only a few of us were allowed at a time.

Two of us to be exact.

We ain't care though, we kept it pushing to that waiting room, and I went towards those doors before anybody could object.

"Go ahead baby, we can wait." Chris looked a little upset, but he occupied himself with the boys for now. I knew he cared about Corey to but I just had to see him right now, I was the first person there and I saw them bring him in. I ain't tell no body, not even Nique but I had real dark nightmares about that shit for weeks. He been in here for a hot minute already, and he's coded four times since then. That third time I ain't think my nigga was go make it, that's a lot of strain on his heart but he a young soldier.

That was fasho.

"Y'all!" Catching Carmen in a hug, I squeezed her tightly before letting her go so she could hug Tray. I slowly walked towards the curtain, pulling it back slow as hell. When I finally looked at him, I had to take a minute to gather myself. He was still pretty banged up, but he looked better. He was sitting upright with the help of pillows and the hospital bed, his face was clean and free of tubes. Aside from the single tube training fluid from his surgery. But the swelling had went down considerably, and only parts of his head was covered in gauze.

"Corey?" Looking at me for a moment, he smiled and raised his good arm slowly. Gripping his hand, I lowered myself against him for a gentle yet firm hug.

"Good to see you bro." Stepping back to let Tray speak to him, I took the time to just really pay attention to him. His arm was uncovered and ...it wasn't a pretty sight.

"Aye nigga, I'm good." Shaking myself out of the trance I was in, I talked to him for as long as I could before I had to switch with the girls and Chris. We did that for a few hours, before leaving him to get some much needed rest. Before we left though Carmen came and spoke to us. She was on crutch now, but doing much better.
