"Be slow to fall into friendship & love, but when you are in, continue firm and constant."
Someone should've told Tray that.

"Alright bro, rest easy. I'm happy for you and I got Cj until y'all can come home." Ending the call with Corey, I said a silent prayer for my brother before opening my eyes to peer down at his son.
"He's doing just fine now, he ain't go give up." Sending a picture of Cj to the group chat, I grinned.

"Alright let's get out of here." I got smart enough to leave his carrier hooked up in the car, and the stroller. He was small enough to carry in the house without issue, so I just did that. Walking out to my car, I buckled him in, setting his diaper bag on the seat by him.
"Tray?" Whipping around I shut and locked the doors as a figured approached me. When they stepped into the sunlight, I relaxed as I walked around to the drivers side.
"What's up." Smiling she ran to my door as I climbed in. Gripping the door, she leaned in eyeing my backseat.
"You got a baby now?" Eyeing her, I shook my head no.
"No Mariah, that's Carmen's son. Carmen & Corey's to be exact." I didn't trust her and I didn't have time for her stipulations. Juliet's graduation ceremony was starting at 12:30 and it was going on 11:20 am now. Airi was riding with me so I couldn't be late.
"Yeah I heard they got into some accident, how're they doing?" Throwing the car into reverse, I gave her a tight smile.
"They're doing great thanks for asking. Chris is to if you were wonder-"
"I wasn't. See you around Tray.." Ignoring the way she dragged my name out, I pulled out the parking lot as she stood there watching me. Just before I turned onto the street, I watched her walk into the same building I just came from.
God please no!
30 minutes later•
"Where have you been?!" Pulling off as she shut her door, I sighed.
"I'm sorry I got held up, but we're only a few minutes late and she's just up the road." She didn't say anything after that, just started tapping away on her phone.
"Is Dana here?" I asked as we pulled in and successfully found a parking spot. Nodding her head yes, she jumped out the car as I opened the trunk for her to grab the stroller.
"Yeah, her ceremony isn't until 5." Cringing at that, I settled Cj in the stroller as she grabbed his bag.
"Damn why so late? We go be there all night man." Agreeing she shook her head as we walked towards the large open field behind Juliet's school. Standing in the raging sun, we waved to her from her place seated ahead. They had a bunch of chairs from inside the school lined up in the field, with a podium and little certification of graduation from the 4th to the 5th grade staked on it. They even had little caps, with there names on it.
