Chapter 1: Capture

"Akira..."

The Reborn Mii turned around to face his mentor. "Y-yes?"

Reborn Dark Curse: Akira

The Great Sage looked him in the eyes with a concerned expression. "You seem troubled. Are you all right?"

The Great Sage: Harmoni

"Yeah...I-I mean, yes, ma'am. I'm just thinking about someone I lost years ago."

"Ah." Harmoni motioned for the Reborn to follow her, and he did. "Can you believe it's been only two weeks since... the incident?"

"Yeah, it's pretty cr-crazy."

Harmoni looked at him with confusion. "You mentioned someone you lost...who was it?"

"Oh...well, she was my older sister. I looked up to her for help when I was ignored, but...she died years ago. I think it was some kind of magic that did her in..." Akira paused. "Her name was..."

Suddenly, a huge black shadow blotted out the sun, darkening the sky. "What... is that?" Harmoni looked around, and a thundering laugh echoed around them.

"Mm ha ha ha ha ha! Don't believe everything you hear, Wise One," a feminine voice cackled. "Things aren't always what they seem..."

Akira's eyes widened. "Oh...oh no...!"

Then, Harmoni felt dark shadows wrapping around her waist, and she dropped her staff as she was pulled away from Akira. "Ah! L-let go of me!"

"Miss Harmoni!" Akira picked up the staff, unsure what to do, and a huge silhouette appeared with the Great Sage in its (or rather, her) grasp.

"I congratulate you for making a great return, brother," she laughed, "but I have gone too far for you to stop me. Why, look at me now!" The silhouette became clearer, revealing a woman with black robes, a silver headdress with rubies in it, pale skin, and pure black eyes. "But that is besides the point. Tell me...where is it?"

"Where is what?"

"It! The ancient one! The one who destroyed Old Miitopia years ago!"

Akira was completely clueless, but Harmoni gasped in horror. "You can't mean...!"

"Yesssss...I speak of...The Eternal!"

"You wouldn't dare!" Harmoni retorted. "That terrible entity is not benevolent! If you so much as come close to it, it will not..." She inhaled to calm herself. "She will not obey you! She will make quick work of you and conquer Miitopia!"

"Nonsense! You know nothing of the legends." The figure conjured a scroll, which had writing on it in another language. "'Eien no ishi wa, kanojo no nemuri kara mezameta toki, kanojo ga kagayaku me o ateru saisho no hito no meirei ni shitagaimasu. Tamerau koto naku, kanojo wa mitopia no subete o hakai suru no ni jūbun'na-ryoku o furimawashi, eien no chikara o motte iru hito dake ga haiboku suru koto ga dekimasu.'"

"Let's pretend I speak Japanese," Harmoni said, rolling her eyes. Akira suppressed a laugh.

"The translation goes as follows: 'The Eternal will, when awakened from her slumber, obey the commands of the first person she rests her glowing eyes on. Without hesitation, she wields enough power to destroy all of Miitopia, and can only be defeated by the one who possesses the power of The Eternal herself.'"

Harmoni said nothing, but continued to glare at this new threat.

"You're insane!" Akira shouted. "Do you honestly think something that powerful will listen to you now?! Answer me, sister!"

"S-sister?" The Great Sage gasped as dark power grabbed her by the neck and started choking her. "Ack! A-Akira...r-run! Take the s-staff! Find the hero of Miitopia!"

Akira nervously looked down at the magical item in his hands. "B-but—"

"GO!"

Flinching at her tone, the Reborn Mii bolted, not daring to look back as he felt the figure's presence disappear behind him.

Well, see ya, Harmoni. Yeah, she doesn't have as big of a role in this story as she did the original, but she still shows up. And Akira, well, he's gonna play a way bigger part—he's actually one of the main characters.
