Well... I finally saw the Sonic movie! It... was not as bad as I expected. Don't worry for those of you who haven't seen it, I won't spoil anything.

"What's the matter?"

"Scared of being alone?"

"Afraid...?"

Janice turned in all directions, but no one was there. "Who are you?" she demanded, raising her sword. "I'm warning you, I've defeated plenty of monsters like yourself!"

"How cute. She's playing with me."

"WHO ARE you?!" Janice raised her voice, getting only laughter in response. That voice sounded slightly familiar, in a lower pitch than hers and with a dark echo effect present. The source of the voice laughed again...

"Oh, you naive fool. You aren't grasping the situation, are you? Let me spell this out for you, Janice..."

How did it know her name?

"When The Eternal is awake, everything you thought you knew shall be questioned..."

A sudden gust of wind caught her off guard, and crazed laughing came in all directions. The Dark Lord, Darker Lord, Dark Curse, Shadow Queen...and that same chilling voice she didn't know...

She screamed as evil shadows enveloped her and the world was plunged into darkness...

"JANICE, WAKE UP!"

She sat up with a jolt, sweat dripping down her forehead and drenching her bedsheets. The team had been invited by the Fab Fairies to stay the night after hearing that they'd been traveling without any rest, and she, Akira, and Antonia were all in the same room. The Reborn was right beside her, hand outstretched as if to save her from something that would take her away, and Antonia was staring out of the window with a neutral expression.

"Are you okay, Janice? You were screaming," Akira told her as Antonia shifted uncomfortably. "Nightmare?"

"...Y-yeah." Janice vulnerably covered herself with the sheets and avoided eye contact. "I heard this...voice..."

Silence hung through the room as the three of them were awake for hours into the night.

"I will be relentless...you cannot escape from me, no matter where you run... your friends? Pathetic little runts. Friends can never be counted on..."
                              ...
Eventually, Janice snuck out of the building and let the cool night air blow away her worries. Akira and Antonia had fallen back asleep a few hours ago, but she just couldn't.

It seemed she wasn't as quiet as she thought.

"Janice? What are you doing up?" Akira asked, walking out as well and sitting beside her.

"Oh...nothing. I couldn't sleep." She scooted over to give him some space, not making eye contact for fear of what he would say.

"It's okay, you don't have to talk about that dream if you don't want to." Akira looked like he wanted to say something, but he didn't. "Um...hey. There's something I've been wanting to tell you...for a while now."

"Same. But first... I want to apologize. If I hadn't been so stupid, trying to fight Kojima, this wouldn't have...you wouldn't be..."

Akira shook his head. "No, it's not your fault. I should have tried to help you...but I was too scared. I mean, I know it's scary fighting a relative of yours...not that you'd know that, since you have no memories..."

She looked at him curiously. "I never told you I had no memories. How did you know that?"

"Oh, Miss Harmoni told me. I asked who you were one day during my training, and all she said was this: 'Janice is but a figment of who she was, a shell of who she is, and a promise of who she will become.' Weird, right?"

Janice paused, letting those words sink in. "A figment of who I was..."

"It's almost like she was hinting at something...something related to your past, but I could never figure out what she meant. And when she got kidnapped...she told my sister that 'she will not obey you'. So The Eternal is a girl?"

"Well, it's better than calling her an 'it', which sounds like a horror movie." They both laughed, continuing to converse about little nothings long into the morning.

Awww, look at the totally necessary Ship Tease! Of course I needed to use THAT trope. Bleh! Also, that nightmare sequence and Harmoni's dialogue comes into play later in the story...you'll see, readers.
Peace out and no comments! Thank you!
