Upon arrival in the messed-up version of Neksdor, Team B—Scarlette, Apollo, Cameron, and Lazarus—were investigating the area for the shrine they needed. "Purple is not the sand's color," Scarlette sighed, flinching as a scorpion inched by her.
"The end of the world is at hand, and you're thinking about colors?" Cameron scoffed. "My creator would be pushing me to my limit right now, begging me to go on."
"Ve vill accomplish nothing by complaining," Lazarus said. "Besides, the entire population is counting on us to defeat the enemy... do you vish to fail them?"
"I feel like I already have," Apollo whispered, kicking a clump of violet sand aside. "I fought so hard for Janice when I first joined her... fought for my sister, who I thought was gone, and now look... everything's ruined. What if Janice doesn't come back to us? What if she's stuck in her own mind forever? What if—?!"
"PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER!" Cameron shouted, silencing them. "If we give up now, stuck on 'What ifs', we really have failed! Our quest is NOT over!"
After a moment, Apollo shakily nodded. "O-okay. Let's go."
They continued onward until they met up with Scorcher, who was floating next to the orange and red shrine. "Follow me, you four. The beast is awake," he said cryptically before flying ahead.
Inside, the heat was even more intense than in the desert, and it took a lot of willpower to get to the heart. The cause of the rising temperature was a fiery bird, with feathers alit with flame and glowing red eyes in stark contrast to its light yellow body. It, too, had a core holding Horace's soul, glowing bright orange.
"Is that... a phoenix?!" Apollo gasped.
"It is, indeed!" Scorcher said as he shielded the quartet. "Defeat it to free my descendant! CHARGE!"

Scorcher lets loose a flaming wave. "Allow me!" All party members get increased attack power.
Phoenix attacks with a wave of fire. All party members lose 200 HP.
Apollo heals all party members. "Panacea!" All party members get 200 HP restored.
Scarlette attacks with Punishing Pitchfork. "Taste the darkness!" Phoenix's core loses 900 HP.
Cameron attacks with Wild Shot. "Lookout!" Phoenix's core loses 1,500 HP.
Lazarus attacks with Bite. "*chomp*" Phoenix's core loses 960 HP.
Scorcher weakens the enemy with his flames. "Be silent!" Phoenix has decreased defenses.
Phoenix attacks with a fireball. Scarlette loses 500 HP.
Apollo heals Scarlette. "Mega Cure!" Scarlette gets 600 HP restored. "Thanks a lot!"
Scarlette attacks with Punishing Pitchfork. "Hahaha!" Phoenix's core loses 650 HP.
Cameron attacks with Laser. "Eat laser!" Phoenix's core loses 700 HP.
Lazarus attacks with Poison Breath. "Die, monster!" Phoenix's core loses 300 HP.
Scorcher holds off the enemy. "Obey me!" Phoenix has decreased attack power.
Phoenix lets loose a flaming arrow, which is actually a feather. Apollo loses 60 HP.
Apollo attacks with Righteous Anger. "Begone!" Phoenix is defeated. "All right!"
Team Apollo wins!
END BATTLE!
The fiery avian was extinguished, for lack of a better term, and Horace was freed from his prison. As with Flora, Scorcher entered his body as he glowed a bright orange. "Meet up with the others, if you please. I will help him follow soon enough. Oh, and by the way... inform his fiancé that he will run to her in time." A smile was in his voice as he vanished.
You didn't think I would pass up this opportunity, did you? I mean, come on... fire? Phoenix? It's a bird that's reborn in fire? It fits. Also, Lazarus yelling "Die, monster!" may or may not have been a reference to... is it Castlevania? I think it's Castlevania. I don't know, that game is creepy and I want nothing to do with it. Anyway, peace out! No comments!
