He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:10-11)
Dearest Readers,
We have reached the end of Callie and Jasper's story, an ending that I hope will feel satisfying and rewarding for all of you who have been following their development over these two books. For me, this is a bittersweet ending. These are characters that have been with me since my sophomore year of high school. They have grown with me as much as I have grown with them in the last four years. I am sorry that their stories are coming to an end, that this huge chapter of my life is closing, but I am proud of the story they have told and will continue to tell as people read these books.
I had so much fun discovering where their story would go, how I would bring them back together, if they would even want to come back together. Any writer will tell you that your characters dictate the story just as much as you do. I wanted this story to feel authentic and true to the characters that I created in A Boy Named Jasper. I wanted to keep the theme of redemption, of being good enough, but I wanted to give them a new spin. I wanted to show that you could fall, you could reach a point that seems like no return and still come back from it.
I want to take a moment to say how thankful I am for your continued support for these books. It means the world to me that I can use my stories to connect with so many different people, that my stories can touch people. I love reading your comments and getting to talk to all of you and hear how this book has affected you, what you have connected with over the course of these two books. You all are amazing and I am grateful that God brought us together over the course of the last four years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything.
It's hard to see this come to an end; endings are never easy but they allow us to move on to new things. Jasper and Callie are in a new season and are happy. Their story will continue on long after this final chapter. I hope they will live on in the minds of those who they have touched and connected with.
Thank you again for your support. Until next time, in another story with a new set of characters to fall in love with. God bless you all!
All the love. X
Ruby :)
