Chapter 4 - Return Of The Hofferson's Bane

Hiccup's POV:

"Arvendole's Fire tonight Hiccup." Gobber started a conversation as I sat on a stool in the forge.

"Yeah. I'm just glad Astrid isn't out there killing inanimate objects all day." I said relieved. Arvendole's Fire is the Aurora Borealis that comes over Berk once a year. Not that we don't get them all the time but this one is special because every year comes a dragon we call the Flightmare.

A glowing dragon that sprays mist that paralyses you. It glows because it eats the glowing algae in the water. In another name we call it the Hofferson's Bane because Astrid being a Hofferson, is constantly wanting revenge to clear her name after her uncle froze in its presents.

Luckily a few years ago we drove the Flightmare away as it followed the algae in the stream running to Berk now into the ocean. It hasn't visited Berk since which is great because now Astrid doesn't have to practice killing things all day.

"AHHHHH!" I heard her yell outside the forge.

"Spoke to soon." I muttered as me and Gobber opened the window to look out.

"You heard trader Johann Astrid. Flightmare's on the search for a Hofferson!" Snotlout teased.

"That doesn't necessarily mean it's coming here though, Snotlout." FIshlegs nudged him.

"Either way, Hiccups little speech didn't help clear your name, we have to see it to believe it." Snotlout laughed as Astrid threw her axe and it imbedded itself into the house wall he was standing next to. I walked out the forge as I watched Astrid frown at Snotlout.

"Ha! You missed. Just shows the fright you have. Haha, you are a..." He laughed before Astrid grabbed him by the shirt and threw him to the ground. "Ow! ....a Hofferson." He finished.

"Shut it Snotface! You can't say anything. Jorgenson's are the ones that can swim!" She pointed her axe to him as she had a foot on top of his face.

"True, but Jorgenson's don't freeze when they see a Flightmare." He stated. Astrid grumbled back. "You know...this situation is feeling awfully familiar." He tried to speak while Astrid kept her foot on top of hit head just digging it into the dirt more. I looked around to not only see Snotlout now on the ground but Ruff handing from the forge roof and Tuff stuck in a barrel.

"Yep, I, I think you got them....all of them." I stated as she looked up to me.

"Oh, haha, and I think that's my queue to leave, haha.... Goodbye." Fishlegs said a little scared of Astrid and now leaving.

"And they call you Astrid Fearless Hofferson. Haha, you should just change it back to Astrid Thora...." Astrid put more weight on his head. "Ow, ow, ow, ow! ....Hofferson!" He choked out.

"Astrid, I think you can relax, the Flightmare isn't coming for you." I began making my way over to her.

"Can I get up now?" Snotlout asked from below us.

"Whatever." She muttered as he stood up.

"You know, there is a way you can solve this problem. Flightmares coming for a Hofferson, just change it to..." Astrid cut his sentence of there.

"Say it and those will be the last words you'll speak!" She threatened but he continued anyway.

"...Haddock." He finished extremely fast.

"AHHH!" She yelled as she ran for him. I just stood here with wide eyes watching him dodge her swings.

"No surprises you didn't argue with Snotlouts statement." Tuff appeared from behind me.

"What?" I asked.

"You didn't argue when he said Haddock." He pointed to Snotlout who held up a shield and Astrid threw her axe making it nearly go right threw it.

"W-what. Ugh, go get your sister off the roof." I just changed the subject.

"Haha, no way. I love watching her suffer."

"Aw, where's the loyalty?!" Ruff yelled down to us. Tuff began turning out his pocket.

"Well, it's not on me." He laughed.

"How did I get stuck with this moron?" She muttered, crossing her arms as her fur jacket hung from the edge of the fake Tooth hanging above the forge.

"That should do it." Astrid came over to me with a smile. I looked behind her where Snotlout was stuck in a barrel.

"Hookfang! Get me out of here!" His voice muffled through the barrel. Hookfang lent his head down to him. He then blew a small puff of fire setting Snotlouts butt on fire before he flew off. "AHHHH! Where is the loyalty?!" Snotlout suddenly forced himself out of the barrel and ran into one of the dragon troughs as steam rose from behind him.

"Nope, still no loyalty on me. Hehe." Tuff giggled.

"Can someone get me down?" Ruff drew our attention back to her.

"Get yourself down woman!" Tuff laughed.

"Has anyone told you your an idiot?" She yelled at Tuff.

"Has anyone told you?!" He yelled back.

"Ugh." I complained, turning back to Astrid. Who was already on Stormfly. "Where you going?" I asked her.

"To find the Flightmare! Might as well find it before it finds me!" She said as as she put her axe behind the saddle.

"Woah, woah, woah. Astrid, there is no Flightmare coming to get you." I told her.

"Sure there is." Tuffnut stated

"Trader Johann's never wrong." Ruff added.

"Guys this is really not helping." I said to them quietly.

"See, might as well do something useful." Astrid smiled before taking off to the sky.

"Ugh, why me?" I muttered to myself as I got on Toothless to go after her.

"Duh, because...." Tuff went to answer my question.

"Don't say it." I cut him off before Toothless took off after her.

Okay I want to give a quick shout out to Hiccstrid_Shipper372. The book I am reading called You're My Princess, it doesn't have many chapters yet but already I am dying from the feels! You just want to reach through your computers screen and....you have to read it to understand just give that book a quick read because it's adorable!

Another book I want to give a shoutout to is my best friend _Abby_Jones_145_'s Book. It's called Agent 5 and it is just the funniest thing I have ever read! Just go read it. I'm warning you, you will be on the ground laughing. It's just ingenious so check that out!
