Chapter 11 - Back To Square One

Hiccup's POV:

I'm such an idiot. What in Thor's name was I thinking. I left her on outcast island with a Flightmare and nothing but Stormfly who flew back for her. I keep telling myself I don't love her but it isn't helping. It doesn't matter how many times I tell myself I still do. I have to get her back. Where would she be? She has to still be on outcast island but where? Oh gods I hope she's alright. I'm such an idiot!

"COME ON TOOTHLESS! FASTER!" I demanded as I put his tail into a faster mode. I could see outcast island coming up ahead. The pointy sharp rocks emerging from the water like a wall in caging the island around it. The sun was rising ahead as my eyes tear from the wind hitting them. Everything was like last time. Cold, rocky and abandoned. We hovered above the island as I gazed below.

I really, really, REALLY hope she's okay. I couldn't see her anywhere. I remembered the tunnels below. I'll go down there and search it out. I gestured for Toothless to land which he did so as silently as he could. I looked around before entering one of the tunnels.

"Toothless light it up." I ordered as he shot at the ceiling. The place glowed blue allowing me to see better. I followed the long, and what seemed like endless tunnel until I eventually found the end. Toothelss followed behind cautiously. I entered a large room filled with cells. Huge steal bars reached the roof in rows of hundreds. Alvin really had a thing for kidnapping people back in the day ha? I walked through the middle of the cages just turning my head to look back and forth through each one.

There was nothing in them. I picked up the speed to a jog. Oh Astrid I hope your not hurt. Please be here I'm so sorry. I ran with Toothless doing his strange hop/run beside me. Cages and cages on still nothing. How many people did he kidnap he needed this many cells? I saw a door up ahead. Maybe there's something in the next room. I stopped looking as I ran faster towards the door.

"Oh, oh, oh, HICCUP!" I heard from the right. I stopped and walked aback a bit where in the cell next to me sat Ruffnut trying to wake Tuff up while she called me over.

"Ruff?! What are you doing here?" I asked as I walked up to the cage.

"We came to get Astrid." She answered.

"We?"

"Hiccup!" I turned my head to see Snotlout and Fishlegs in the cell to the right of the twins.

"Your all here?" I questioned.

"Yeah." Fishlegs replied.

"Where's Astrid?" I asked them.

"They just took her. She's in one of the cells over on the other side of the room." Snotlout told me.

"Who took her?"

"Savage the despicable." Tuff replied.

"Savage?!" I yelled.

"Keep your voice down before someone hears you." Snotlout grabbed my shirt through the bars and shook me.

"Savage took over the outcasts." Ruff explained.

"I'll have to worry about it later. Where's the key?" I asked.

"To get us out of here? Just out of reach of Astrid I heard." Fishlegs said.

"Yeah, we've been yelling to each other from opposite sides of the room." Snotlout complained.

"My idea!" Tuff rose his hand feeling clever.

"Astrid." I muttered before getting up and running.

"Hey! Don't leave us here!" Snotlout called.

"I'm getting the key!" I yelled back. "Toothless stay with them." I ordered as Toothless turned to go back and watch the gang. I kept running. I turned down a small path leading between more cages. I looked frantically through them as I past each one.

"Hiccup?" I heard through a cry/whisper.

"Astrid? Astrid!" I turned to see her to the right of me. I hit the cage not slowing down and knelt down to reach her level. She sat on the floor with her hands on the bars. "Astrid. Oh Thor I'm so sorry. I'm such an idiot. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry." I apologised extremely fast as I put my hand on her cheek through the bars. She didn't look at me. I felt a tear run down my cheek as I brushed my thumb over her cheek. I heard a sob before she turned her head towards me. Her hair was messy and dirty and she had a black eye. I saw her arm that had a torn bandage and she had a small cut on her chin.

*Sniff* She looked like she had been beaten up.

"Oh gods. Astrid. I'm such an idiot. Ahh!" I banged my head on the bars feeling horrible with myself. "I'm so sorry. I should have been here. I shouldn't have left you here I should have come back for you. I should have..." She cut me off by placing. A hand on my cheek.

"No I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been so determined to kill the Flightmare. I should have listened to you. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for me." She choked out. Before she could burst into tears I placed my hand at the back of her neck and kissed her. Well tried to through the bars. Close enough to success right? I let go after she kissed back and wiped a tear that ran down her bruised eye.

"I'm getting you out hold on." I began to stand up but she grabbed my hand.

"No. You need to leave. You can't be here. I'm being used as bait. We all are." She whisper-yelled.

"I can tell look at the state of you I need to get you out." I tried to walk away but she pulled me back.

"No not bait for the dragons. We are bait for you. Savage has us hear knowing it would draw you hear. And he knows if you come so will Toothless. You need to get out of here before he does something awful to you." She ordered.

"No, I'm not leaving here without you." I said back as I walked over to the wall. I grabbed the key before turning back to Astrid's cell.

"No Hiccup. Please you need to go." She repeated. I opened the door as it creaked. I ran in and helped her up. I hugged we has she hugged me back.

"I need to get you out. Can you walk?" I asked.

"We aren't going to leave here. He has eyes everywhere. And our dragons are caged in another room." She looked into my eyes.

"Oh that's just great."

"HICCUP! HICCUP!" I heard yells from the gang from the other side of the room.

"Oh no. Come on." I put a hand around her to help her walk. We hurried down the hall until we reached them.

"What's wrong?" I asked them.

"Hiccup! They just took Toothless! They know your here they're searching for you.You have to go now!" Different people yelled different sentences. I felt something sharp at my neck as I gulped. I turned my head to see a sword pointed at me.

"Hands up." I heard as me and Astrid put our hands up in surrender seeing a bunch of vikings standing in front of us.

"Savage." I greeted as I looked at him. He lowered his sword.

"Cage them." Savage ordered the five or six viking behind him.
