Ch. 16 - Surgery

Charlotte POV

It was the next week and I am scheduled to have surgery today. I am absolutely terrified. It's 6am since my surgery is at 8am so we are all getting dressed and ready since we have to be at the hospital an hour before surgery.

Moms both gave me a kiss on the forehead as I walk down the stairs. Everybody else gets to eat before we leave but I don't get to which sucks.

We're all sitting around the table when the doorbell rings. Mama looks at me with a smirk and asks if I'll get it. Mom has a slight grin as well and even Liv does too. What the hell is going on?

I make it to the door and whoever is behind it won't stop ringing it. So I swing it open and yell, "Jesus christ why are you ringing the doorbell so - Becky?" Behind the door was my favorite defender, don't tell Mama. "Becks!" I yell again hugging her.

"Hey Char, I've missed you." She said quietly into my neck.

I laughed at this, "You just saw me last week Becks."

She rubbed my back a couple of times before letting go. "Doesn't mean I can't miss you."

"I missed you too," I tell her truthfully.

"Anyways, what are you doing here?" I ask as we make our way into the kitchen where everyone else was.

"Your moms said you were nervous about surgery and could use another friendly face to keep you calm." Becky said as she grabbed some food, another person who gets to eat besides me.

I looked over at Mom and Mama, "You guys did this?" They both nodded their heads so I went over and hugged them.

"Thank you. I love you guys so much." I told them trying not to cry. It's crazy, Liv was always the sensitive one, but I think I have cried more being here than her, must mean I'm opening up to them.

"Hey! I helped keep it a secret!" Liv shouted at me causing me to laugh so I grabbed her into a hug as well. "Thanks Livie."

We make our way to the hospital where they start prepping me for surgery.

Liv was the first one to hug me, then moms came over and they both hugged me and gave me a kiss on my forehead, and then the last one over was Becky.

"You'll be alright. We will all be here waiting for you when you get out, okay?"

I nodded to her, "Okay. Thank you for being here Becks."

She shook her head, "No place I'd rather be," she said and then kissed my hand before I was wheeled out of the room.

Kelley POV

They just wheeled Charlotte out of the room, but I noticed Becky kissed her hand before they did. I know they were close, but this is a different level.

"So Broon?" I asked looking at Becky.

"Squirrel! Behave!" Hope tried to yell at me.

"It's fine Hope. What's up Kels?" Becky asked me.

"What are your intentions with my daughter?" With that question, Becky turned bright red.

"KELLEY! MAMA!" Both Hope and Olivia yelled at me.

"I uh, I really care about your daughter Kelley. But we aren't together or anything. I uh hope we can be one day, but I know she is still young and going through a lot of stuff, so I don't plan on pursuing her right now. And of course I would never do anything behind your backs." She said looking at Hope and I.

I held my mean look that I learned thanks to Hope before breaking.

"I'm just giving ya shit Broon. I trust you with my kid, but if you ever hurt her, Hope will kick your ass."

Now Hope looked at me, "Will you not?"

I laughed, "Nope, because anyone who messes with either girl won't be able to walk for a week after they have their run in with you."

Hope just shoots me a glare so I through my arms up.

Liv started yawning so Hope told her to lay her head down in her lap and we would wake her when Charlie came back.

I watched as Hope ran her fingers through Liv's hair. I fall in love with that woman every day a little bit more. She's so good with both of the girls which is funny because when we first thought about adopting the girls, she was terrified she wouldn't be a good mom. When now, she's the better one out of both of us.

Hope looked up at me, "Whatcha thinking about Squirrel?"

"Just how much I love you," I replied honestly.

This threw Hope off because she blushed the reddest I have ever seen her get. "I love you too."

We kind of just sat there for a few more seconds before Broon ruined it.

"Aww, ain't that sweet?" Becky said causing Hope to laugh.

"Shove it Broon!" Which caused both Hope and Becky to laugh now.

Olivia POV

I woke up to someone gently saying my name and rubbing my head, looking up I see it's Mom.

"Hi Mom," I said with a smile.

"Hi sweet girl. Thought I'd let you know Char is back."

I sit up quickly to see she is still asleep. Mom pulled me to lean against her, "They said she will be asleep for awhile, but that they did an x-ray too." She tells me as Becky climbs into bed with Char.

I know Char has the biggest crush on her so I'm happy for her.

"What did the x-ray say?" I asked Mom.

"Well about what we expected, lots of broken bones that didn't heal right and that her bones are extremely weak. We have a feeling yours is probably similar even though you always claim she took the most of it?"

I just nod my head and she continues.

"Well, they are starting both of you on calcium pills so that will help with strengthening your bones. As for Char's shoulder, surgery went fine, but she's going to be out of soccer for 12-16 weeks and no heavy lifting or extreme workouts for at least 6-8 of those weeks."

I kind of laugh to myself, "She's not going to like that."

Mom sighed, "I know baby, that's why she's going to need all of the support she can get from us. This is the first time she is injured that she doesn't have to worry about caring for herself or you, so that will be a big adjustment."

I nodded before leaning back against Mom.

After awhile Charlie wakes up and we all greet her. She is a little red when she realized Becky is next to her and everyone in the room has their eyes on them just making simple conversation. It isn't long before the doctor comes in discussing at home requirements and treatment plans.

It was an outpatient surgery, so after a few more hours of observation they will release Charlie, but if she starts running a fever or anything she has to come back because something is infected. Let's hope not though because Charlie is not a fan of hospitals.
