Ch. 9 - Adoption

Hope POV

The girls got up this morning to go for a run and get breakfast, so that gives me plenty of time to talk to Kelley about adopting the twins. "Kel?" She just hums at me while brushing her teeth, "I want to adopt the twins." She literally spit her toothpaste out.

"You want to adopt them?" I couldn't talk anymore, so I just nodded my head. Kel screamed yes before wrapping me up in a hug. "So I take it you are okay with this?" She gave me a confused look, "What? Of course I'm happy with this. I love those girls so much."

"How should we ask them?" Kel asks me. I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed before saying, "I think we should find out if we can even do it and get all of the paperwork done before we ask them. If they say no, we just rip up the papers. But I really hope they say yes." Kel smiles at me and just says that they will.

We decide to head out to run these errands so the girls are going to hang out with some of the team. I think Liv is going to be off with some of the younger girls and Char is with Carli and Alex for the day.

Charlotte POV

"Do you think they'll adopt us?" I ask out of the blue to Carli and Alex. Carli chokes a little on her food before asking what I was talking about. "I mean her and Kelley have custody of Liv and I. We've talked about moving back to Washington with them and being homeschooled, but do you think they will adopt us?"

"Do you want to be adopted?" Alex asks. I think about it for a minute, "By them? I'd love to. I just don't know how Liv will take it. She was always closer to dad and I was close to mom, but I just don't know. I don't want to be a burden to them, they have their careers to think about. Not two 15 year olds with a shitty last few years of life."

"Hey, none of that talk. Kelley and Hope love you both so much, I'm sure they will adopt you both, they probably just don't want to push you guys too fast," Carli stated trying to reason with me.

"I almost called Hope mom last night. Does that make me a bad daughter to my biological mom that I wanted to call her that?" I ask almost in tears. Alex comes to hug me, "Of course not sweetie, I am sure your mom would be completely fine with it. I think she would be really happy that you and Liv are finally safe."

Trying to cheer up the situation, Carli asked, "so if you didn't call her mom, what did you call her?" I chuckled a little, "I said motherly figure." Carli cracked up, "you probably just about made her shit her pants kid!"

Dying of laughter by now, "I didn't mean to! I panicked!" We all continued laughing until there was a knock on the door. Carli went up to get it, opening to reveal Hope. "Hey Charlie, your "motherly figure" is here!"

I cannot believe she just said that! "Aunt Carlos! That was supposed to be a secret!" Hope was laughing, along with Carli and Alex. "Whatever, bye kid, love you." I hugged her and Alex before telling them I loved them too and left with Hope.

"So... You told them about how you called me a motherly figure?" Hope said trying to hold back her giggles. "Oh my god not you too!" She tried to make me tell her what that was all about, but we made it back in the room in time for me to jump on Liv, "Save me Livie!"
Everyone just laughed until Hope got us all calm. "Alright girls, you might have noticed we were missing all day today?" We both nodded our heads. "Well, we were wondering if you would want us to adopt you both?"

Liv immediately says yes and jumps onto Kelley. Well, at least she has a good reaction. All I can think about is that do they actually want me? I'm so broken, why would anyone want me? I didn't realize tears were falling from my eyes until Hope wiped them away. "You don't have to answer immediately sweetie."

I shook my head, which caused their faces to drop. Realizing what I did, I quickly spoke up, "No, I want to be adopted. Please adopt us." Both of their faces lit up again and Hope pulled me into a hug.

"We were hoping you two would say that, come on, let's get ready. We have to go talk to a judge and have him sign off on it." Hope said.

Olivia POV

It was pretty quick with the judge, he seemed pleased with Char and I's answers so he signed off on our adoption. We are officially Olivia Maureen Solo and Charlotte Amelia Solo. Apparently Char already told Hope so she wasn't shocked, but Kelley just about tackled me when she found out we shared a middle name. She was upset that I didn't tell her.

Once we get back to the hotel, Hope and Kelley sit us down once more. "We know we can never replace your mother, and we don't want you guys to ever feel like we are. We want you to be able to trust us and trust that we love you both. That's why there's no pressure on what you call us. We can still be Hopey and Kels, or we can be Mom and Mama, it's completely up to you guys."

We nod our heads and they seemed pleased with that answer so we all get ready for dinner. Char and I wanted time to talk, so we brought our food back upstairs with us. After we finished, we both showered so we could cut each other's hair. Ever since mom died, we had to learn to cut hair since she would always do it for us.

This gave us time to talk. I was currently getting my hair cut since I already did Charlie's. "Char? I want to call Hope and Kelley Mom and Mama." I tell her truthfully. She sighed and put down the scissors. She looked at me and said, "I do too Livie..."

I look at her questioningly, "You do? I figured this would be really hard for you considering how close you were with mom."

"It is hard Liv. But I had a long conversation with Carli and Alex about it... also, I may have almost called Hope, mom the other night. It didn't feel wrong and Carli and Alex assured me it was okay. We can trust them."

Little did they know that Kelley and Hope had come into the room and heard almost all of their conversation. Kelley was in tears when the girls came out of the bathroom, both had shocked expressions when they saw the two women.

Charlotte POV

Liv and I just walked out of the bathroom to see Hope comforting a crying Kelley, I figured if I was going to start calling them Mom and Mama, might as well start now. "Mom? Why is Mama crying?" I think I made it worse because Kelley started crying harder and even Hope began tearing up.

Liv went over to Mama, "Mama, what's wrong?" Kelley pulled her into a hug, "nothing's wrong honey." Now I'm confused. "If nothing is wrong then why are you crying?"
Both women started laughing, Mom started, "We came in a little bit ago and overheard you talking about wanting to call us Mom and Mama. It seems Kelley got a little emotional over that, so when you both came out calling us Mom and Mama, it made her even emotional. Hell, even I'm tearing up. You called me Mom. We never expected you two to accept us so quickly, and we didn't really expect you to call us the M word so soon considering the adoption was finalized literally 4 hours ago."

I chuckled at the whole situation, "I know Mom, but it felt right. Are you guys okay with it?" Mom pulled me into a hug, "More than okay with it baby."

That night we all slept in the same bed, me and Liv next to each other, Mom on my side and Mama on Liv's. Before Liv and I fell asleep, we said "We love you moms," and they reciprocated. I think I'm going to like my life with them.
