Ch. 12 - Birthday Surprises

Hope POV

The girls have been living with us for a couple weeks now and it's been going really well. They are both being homeschooled, though it's more like online school, but that allows them to come with us to a lot of our practices.

It's October 11th which means the girls turn 16 tomorrow. We have multiple surprises for the girls, so I'm really excited. I hope they like them.

I turn over to go back to sleep when I hear muffled cries, so I decide to get up. I make my way to Liv's room just to find out it's Charlie who is crying.

When I open her door, she's tossing and holding her stomach while crying. I immediately get to her bed to try and wake her up.

"Char baby, you need to wake up. It's just a dream." I tell her while pushing her hair back and trying to hold her from moving too much.

Her eyes shoot open and as soon as she sees me, she shoves her face into my chest and starts crying. "Shh, honey, it was just a dream, it's not real," I whisper to her.

She cries a little longer before they finally stop. "That's the thing Mom. It did happen, it was a memory from when he cut me."

That was the night they ran off before we could help. We weren't there to protect them. I hold her a little tighter and tell her how much Kelley and I love her and that we won't let anything bad happen to her.

After awhile I ask if she wants to go back to bed and she nods her head. I go to get up, but she grabs my wrist, "Please stay Mom."

I gave her a sad smile and laid back down with her, our fronts together. She snuggled into me, "I love you Mom."

Giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead, I said, "I love you to baby girl."

The Next Day

Olivia POV

IT'S OUR BIRTHDAY! I run to Charlie's room and jump on her bed. "CHAR WAKE UP! IT'S OUR BIRTHDAY!"

She grunts at me so I keep going until she finally pushes me off and gets up. I'm extra excited because this will be the first time we get to celebrate and not get in trouble.

I did that same thing the first year mom was gone and dad had come in and beaten us for yelling. I don't know that Hope and Kelley are actually going to do anything for us, but at least we won't be beaten.

Char is finally up, so we make our way downstairs and find our Moms in the kitchen making breakfast. Well, more like Hope is making breakfast and Kelley is hoping Hope will give her bites.

"Morning Moms!" I yell before running to hug both of them. After they hug me, they hug Charlie, who's been kind of quiet today. "Happy Birthday girls!"

We all sit down for breakfast, but once we finish, Kelley announces that there is a surprise for us outside. So we all get up to go check it out.

Charlotte POV

Liv is really happy today, but our birthday has a little different memory. I'm sure she remembers the beating on our first birthday without mom, but she never had to deal with my birthday "gift" from dad.

We make our way outside, but Hope pulls me to the side. "Are you okay honey?" I just nod and give her a slight smile. I need to remember they aren't dad. Life is good now. They love us and won't hurt us.

We make it outside, but there's nothing there. "I'm confused," Liv says to me. That made me laugh, "Me too Livie, but I'm sure we'll find out."

Soon enough, there's two newer looking Ford Explorers pulling into our driveway. One is a dark blue while the other is like a dark cherry color. We both turn towards our moms, still confused. We had gotten our permits right after we moved in with them, but we are still learning and have to wait a little while longer before we take our tests.

"Just wait for it girls." Mom told us. Soon the cars were parked and people were getting out of the cars. In the dark cherry Explorer, Mal, Alex, Ali, and Julie got out of it.

Olivia immediately took off, "MAL!" She screamed and jumped into her arms, she then greeted the rest of the girls from that car.

Then the girls in the dark blue explorer came out, inside was Becky, Ash, Alyssa, and Carli. When I saw Becky I started to tear up, "Becks!" I yelled before jumping into her arms like Liv did with Mal.

"Happy Birthday Charlie," she said to me while still in her arms. I hugged her a little tighter, and she did the same to me.

"Alright alright, her aunts want a turn too," I heard Ash say. I wasn't even let down, Ash just took me from Becky's arms and held me in her own. "Happy Birthday kid."

"Thanks Aunty Ash. I've missed you." She said the same thing back to me before putting me down so I could hug Aunt Lys and Aunty Carlos.

Liv's group of people came over and we all hugged the opposite group before making our way back over to Moms.

Liv and I both pulled them into a hug and told them thank you for bringing some of the girls out for our birthday.

Kelley laughs, "girls, that was only part of your surprise. Those cars they drove up in are yours. Char, yours is the blue one and Livie, yours is the cherry one."

I looked at Liv shocked before we both yelled, 'really?!' Which they both nodded their heads at.

I glanced at Hope, "but we don't have our licenses yet?" She smiled, "I know honey, but you will soon enough, so we wanted to get you both a car. However, there will be rules surrounding said cars once you get your licenses." She said the last part giving us a baby Hope glare before smiling again.

"Thank you Moms!!!" We both yell again. They laugh before pushing us all in to the house. Kelley also let it slip that the rest of the team will be here tonight and they are staying for the whole weekend. Ashlyn and Ali will take my room, Carli and Alex will take Liv's room, and Christen and Tobin will be in the guest room. I'm sharing a air mattress with Becky and Liv is sharing one with Mal. The rest of the girls will be on couches or air mattresses.

Liv is already pretty much attached to Mal's side, but I'm the same way with Becky. Honestly, Mal and Liv are perfect for each other. They just get along so well and are so hyper.

Not that Becky and I could ever be together, but I like being around her because she's just always so calm.

We decided to take a slow day today to wait on the rest of the girls, so we are watching a movie in the den until it's time for lunch.

Unfortunately for me, it's a scary movie. Typically I'm fine during scary movies if I can cuddle with one of my moms or Liv, but Moms are with each other and Liv is with Mal.

I'm sitting somewhat alone and not having a good time. Becky notices because she immediately comes to sit by me when she decides to fully pull me in next to her.

"You okay?" She asks me. I nod, "I'm just not a huge fan of scary movies." She squeezes the arm that's around me before whispering again, "we didn't have to watch it, it's your birthday too."

I shake my head at her, "no it's okay, I just usually have someone cuddling with me during them so they're not typically a problem. And now that you're here, I'm okay... Just don't leave," I tell her smiling hoping it hides the blush that arose when she put her arm around me.

She nodded her head before we both turned back to the movie. I put my head on her shoulder and she gently rubbed my arm lulling me to sleep.
