The bed was small. Just 5 ft wide . All of them had to sleep close if they had to fit in there. There was no more space to even sleep on the floor . The walls were unevenly plastered to a beautiful white . A small window facing the east overlooking the valley was a wonderful sight.
Rehaan jumps in the center of the bed. There was an awkward silence. He looks towards both of them . Chalo sote hai. Rohit comes and sits on one side of the bed patting Rehaan's Head. Rehaan looks at Sonakshi and stretches his hand in the other direction . Aaoo Palii didi.
Sonakshi gives a forced smile. There was a time when cuddling next to Rohit was the most beautiful and easiest things . . But now !! Time and circumstances does change things between two people.
Sonakshi finally holds onto his hand and sits on the other side of the bed. There was only one huge rug for all of them . Rohit and Sonakshi both settle down on either side of the bed , Rohit on the left and Sona on the right , after she removes the earrings and places them in the bag. Rohit stares at her on and off from the corner of his eye .
Rehaan quickly moves on his tummy on the bed with both his elbows supporting his position as he holds his face between his hands and looks at both of them . Aap aise hi ho . . kya ?
Sonakshi looks at him in surprise . . Aise matlab ?
Baat nahi karto ho aap ek doosle se ? Mujhse toh bohot baat karte ho aap dono . Abhi bhi gussa ho kya ...Palii didi ?
Sonakshi pulls him closer as he faces her. With his head resting on Sonakshi's right arm .. She naughtily pulls at his nose with her left . He gives her an annoyed look . . Mujhe baat nahi kalni ....Saying this he stands up on the bed and moves over Rohit to sleep on him. He lies down on Rohit on his tummy has Rohit holds him with his right hand and holds his face close to his chest with the other .
Sonakshi : Solly Rehaan . . Baat karo naa mujhse...... holding her ears .
Rehaan : nahi .....Maine itna kaha aapse ki aap maanfi dedo pal aapne nahi di . A lone tear drops from his eyes ...
Sonakshi sits up and comes closer ..... Rehaan.... in a soft voice . Aisaa nahi hai beta . .
Toh app baat kyun nahi kal lahe ho?. . Another tear drops from his eyes . Sonakshi was pained to see him like this as Rohit silently tightens his grip for comfort .
In utter frustration Sonakshi looks at Rohit . . Tum kaho naa kuch . . in an angry voice .
Rehaan digs his head further into Rohits chest as he cries inconsolably . At this point Rohit sits up holding him tight . Nahi aise nahi hai ....Tumhaari Pari didi ne mujhse kitni baat ki hai ... Sonakshi moves closer and touches his face.
Rehaan : Kab ?
Rohit : Jab aap apni maa ke saath upar aa gaye the naa . . uske baad. Hum thodi der baad aaye naa....
Rehaan thinks .. remembering that he had come the mountain with his mother first . Toh aap abhi kyun nahi baath kaL Lahe ho?
Sonakshi pulls him on her lap from Rohit and wipes his tears . He hugs her tightly. Jagdaa nahi kalo please.
Sonakshi : Beta . . Nahi kar rahe hai hum jhagda . . Promise . .. . pinching her neck the ways kids do it . . nahi kar rahe hai .
Rehaan : Promise ?? . . . . this time looking at Rohit.
Rohit : Haan . . . Promise .
Rohit moves closer as they both hug him from both sides. This was the closest they had gotten ever since she left him more than a month ago.
A couple of tears dropped Sonakshi's eyes as she so much wanted to hug Rohit at that very moment but couldn't. Rohit on the other hand never wanted this moment to pass. The only connection point was Rehaan and they so never wanted to let him go.
After a few minutes of talking to Rehaan , they decide through eye gestures that they need to play along with him till he was around . Rehaan yawns .
Rohit : chalo . . sote hai. Rehaan immediately moves to Rohit and sleeps over him with his head side ways on Rohits chest staring at Sonakshi. He was sucking onto his right thumb.
Sonakshi : Kya hua . . Beta ?
He stretches his hand gesturing Sonakshi to come closer. It was an awkward moment again.
Rohit stretches his left hand for Sonakshi after signaling to her . She comes closer and rests on Rohits arm , side ways looking at Rehaan. Rehaan slowly stretches his right arm to caress Sonakshi's face first and then her hair as he still lies on Rohit . Sonakshi smiles . After allowing him to do it for sometime , she holds his right hand , takes it towards her mouth and kisses it as Rehaan slowly falls asleep . Rohit holds him firmly with his other hand.
Sonakshi tries to move away but Rehaan just jerks . They decide to hold the position for his sake.
It was the most beautiful moment . Rohit with his back on the left of the bed with Rehaan on top and Sonakshi on his left arm close to Rehaan , both Sonakshi and Rehaan facing each other . An array of emotions ran through them as they were so close to each other in that moment , physically as well as emotionally though in complete silence.
Sonakshi's left hand was on Rehaans head as she gently caressed him to sleep.
As they lay there in complete silence . . .
Rohit had a couple of tears trickle down his eyes as he thought . . . .
This was the life he wanted , a life of love and happiness only . He wanted his own family. . . . a family he could love and care for . . Was it too much to ask for ? he thought . . . He after all wanted only his Sona . .
In this moment he wanted to wrap his hand around her , kiss her , hold her close to never let go , but he controlled himself as he remembered the mother's advice ' uske sammaan ki maryaada kabhi nahi paar karna. Wahi ek cheez usse tumhaare paas kheech laayegi'.
He didnt want to let go . . for the love he had for her . His last tear dropped from the end of his eye as he closed his eyes that night.
Meanshile Sonakshi on the other hand had tears continuously flowing down her eyes as she pretended to sleep . She so wanted this night never to pass. She wanted to experience this bliss forever . She wanted him so badly . . . She wanted a little Rehaan . . She wanted to be loved and be happy . But she knew it would only make it difficult for Rohit if he had to choose . She would never make him go through this pain. She did not want to give him any hope .
She would let go for his sake . . for the love she had for him. Her eyes had their last tears flow as she finally closed them tight that night.
A long night together was about to pass . . Would the morning bring in any new hope ?
