"what ya looking at there " I heard song say, walking into the room and sitting opposite me,

I looked up and slid the file towards him smirking, he raised an eyebrow before picking it up carefully,

eyes quickly scanning it before a wide smile spread across his face.

"I could kiss those night walking ninja of yours " song said excitedly which made me laugh.

"they've been undercover in the slave ring for weeks and they finally managed to raid and destroy the entire thing, and, they brought files linking it to general kwan "

I said holding up the file, I was beyond happy, the slave ring had been a constant ache in my chest ever since I found out about it. "this is great " song breathed, then he looked up at me

"want me to handle this? " he asked

"Nahh, I'll deal with the bastard myself "

Hand to hand combat hasn't always been my strong point, which made me less than happy that lu fehn had chosen that the next three moons of training would be about physical combat,

I was good at it, but it was nothing compared to what I could do with weapons, it was a weak point for me and the elite i was paired up to spar with had no problem in quickly figuring that out and trying to overwhelm me with a blatant show of strength,

he's hand dug into my neck in a hard grip and I struggled for air

"I am almost surprised you lasted this long " the elite said into my ear, arm still holding my neck tight

"still sore that I bit you last round? " I said taungtily, the grip on my neck grew tighter and I heard him snicker

"you talk such a big game when it comes to weapons, showing up all the men around here, but you're still a woman and I am physically stronger than you"

he said and I could hear the grin in his voice

"well good thing I'm smarter " I said and effectively kneed him from behind, grabbed his hand and kicked at his leg before he even had time to process what happened,

he looked dazed but quickly snapped out of it and glared at me, I smiled back.

"how are you so good at everything?"

clen asked conversationally as we neared my room, he had made it a habit of walking with me after training even though I told him he didn't need too. I shrugged, it's not like I could say oh I've basically been trained for war since I could walk .

"I wouldn't ever want to go up against you in an actual fight " he said as we turned the corner, I looked at him playfully

" why? Scared you'll hurt me " I said in a sing song voice, he snickered

"more like you'll kick my ass " he countered, I smiled at him

"probably " the smile quickly slipped off my face as I took in the palace guard infront of my room. He looked as stoic as a statue and stood out oddly

"that's very odd " I heard clen say beside me,

"huhh, what are you doing? " he said to the palace guard, clen was forward that way, the man paid him no mind but instead turned his eyes on me and handed me a letter with the perian insignia on it, I was beyond confused and slightly on guard,
