“They’re here!” I said, as there was a knock on the door. Once I got back from grabbing our marks, I told Riley that the boys were coming over. She obviously wasn’t too happy about it, since she had been in her room ever since.

I hurried down the stairs and took a deep breath before opening the door. “I don’t understand, how come Niall was the only one told about the meeting?”

“I thought we were on vacation?”

The door was barley open and I could already hear the boys’ strong accents. “Hey boys.” I said once the door was fully opened. They went quiet and turned towards me, a look of confusion and surprise on their faces, “Payton!” they chorused before running into the house and attacking me with a group hug.

“Can’t… breathe…” I complained. Their grip loosened and they stepped back. “Where’s Riley?” Louis asked, his eyes sparkling with excitement. They were always so inseparable. And when they had to part ways, it killed them both. They were friends longer than Riley and I.

Most people thought they were going to get married one day, but you could clearly see that it was a brother, sister kind of relationship. I opened my mouth to answer when I heard a bedroom door close. Every pair of eyes looked towards the stairs. As she started walking down, I turned back to the boys.

Liam, Louis, Zayn, and Niall had big smiles spread across their faces. But Harry’s facial expression was different. He had an eyebrow raised and a playful smirk on his face. You could tell he didn’t recognize her. He looked at her as if she were some whore he could pick up in the club. Boy was he in for it.

Riley was wearing her favorite Nirvana t-shirt with her faded ripped skinny jeans. She had her diamond earrings in, with her spiked bracelet and crescent moon necklace. She had her worn out converse on and her sunglasses sitting on top of her head, as well as her backpack over her shoulders.

She took one look at the boys before walking out the front door. “Riley.” I followed after her. She ignored me, jumped into her car, and drove off. “That was Riley?” I turned to see a shocked looking Harry. “It didn’t even look like her!” I walked back inside and shut the door behind me.

“She lost weight and wears makeup now.” I shrugged. “A lot of makeup?” Liam asked. Same old Liam. He never liked girls who wore a ton of makeup that they looked like a clown. “No, not a lot. Just the basics.” I replied as if they would know what ‘the basics’ were. “Then why does she look so different?” Harry asked. I shook my head and rolled my eyes at him. “She doesn’t.” Zayn spoke. “You’re just used to being around cake faced girls.”

“Yeah like Miranda!” Niall called from the kitchen. I see his eating habits haven’t changed at all. “Wait, who’s Miranda?” I asked. I realized we were still standing at the front door so I motioned for the boys to follow me into the living room.

“She’s Harry’s girlfriend.” Louis mumbled. He didn’t sound to happy about the fact he had a girlfriend, or maybe he just didn’t like the girl. “Who else has a girlfriend?” I asked. Louis and Zayn raised their hands with big grins on their faces. “Oh my God! Let me see pictures!” I urged. The three of them grabbed their phones out of their pockets and showed me pictures.

“This is Perrie.” Zayn said, holding his phone out to me.

“Eleanor!” Louis cheered, passing his phone over.

They were both so beautiful and definitely did not over do it on the makeup. I bet they were both the sweetest girls. Then, there was Harry’s girlfriend. She was most definitely a caked face girl. She wasn’t pretty at all. She looked like a total slut.

“Oh.” I replied to the picture. It was a different reaction to Louis and Zayn’s girlfriends and harry didn’t seem happy about it at all. “What about you Niall? Liam?” I asked. Liam rubbed the back of his neck and looked down. “Well, my girlfriend and I just broke up actually.” He replied. I felt like such a bitch. “I’m so sorry…” I whispered.

Niall walked out of the kitchen just in time. “Single.” He smiled. Well, at least he wasn’t down about it. I opened my mouth to say something but was cut off by the sound of my phone ringing. I pulled it out of my track pants pocket and checked to see who it was. “It’s Riley.” I told the boys.

“Put it on speaker.” Niall suggested. Liam smacked him on the back of the head and told him it was rude to listen in on somebody else’s conversations. I rolled my eyes at the two and put it on speaker anyways. “Hey Ri.” I answered. “Hey, do you want me to pick up anything on my way home? I should be back in about an hour or two.”

I looked at the boys, silently asking them if they needed anything but they all shook their head no. “No, I’m fine.” I replied. “Where are you anyways?” I had an idea of where she might be going, but I didn’t want to jump to conclusions. “Breakfast with Jason. I’m driving there now.”

“You shouldn’t be on the phone when you’re driving!” Liam shouted.

The other end was quiet for a moment. “Do you have me on speaker?” Riley finally asked. Before I could answer, Louis spoke up. “No of course not! I need to approve of this Jason fellow by the way!” I show him a death glare, making him shut up and sit back in his seat.

“I can’t believe this.” Riley mumbled before hanging up. “What’s her problem?” Harry scoffed. “Oh I don’t know, maybe our five best friends decided to try out for a talent show and stopped texting or calling us and stopped answering when we called and texted them.” I said sarcastically.

All of them bowed their heads in shame. Well not all of them. Harry just looked at me. “Well you’re not mad.” He pointed out. “I’m not as good as Riley when it comes to holding grudges.” I replied. Truth is, I missed the boys too much to be mad at them. Harry went quiet and Louis started laughing quietly to himself.

“Same old Riley.” He said. “I remember when we would get in fights over the silliest things and it would take me days to get her to forgive me. She came around eventually, once she realized how stubborn she was being.”

“He’s right, she’ll forgive us eventually.” Zayn said. I was already shaking my head as he spoke. How stupid were they? It had been years since they had spoken a word to us and they just expect forgiveness just like that. They were lucky I forgave them right away.

“This wasn’t some silly little fight though Zayn. You guys forgot about us! You’re lucky I forgave you so easily.” I said. Once again, the boys fell silent. Including Harry this time. They knew I was right. I always was in situations like this. I just understood them more and knew exactly what to say.

“It looks like you guys took it pretty hard.” Liam spoke. I let out a sigh and nervously scratched my arm.

“You got that right.”

We all turned in the direction of the voice and saw Riley standing in the entryway of the living room. Louis stood up from his seat with a pleading look in his eyes. You could tell how much he had missed her. Riley looked at each of the boys and even though she kept a straight face, you could see the hurt in her eyes. “I forgot my walled.” She reached for her wallet that was sitting on the side table and turned to walk away.

“Wait.” Niall called after her.

(A/N) so, this song has nothing to do with this chapter, but I was listening to is as I was posting this so I thought I'd add it in! Plus, outfit it on the side
